This place is pretty foreigner friendly in the fact that they provide a menu with multiple languages (although you do have to ask for one if it’s not obvious to them that you are tourist). The most confusing part was figuring out how to order, so let me help you. The papers and pen that are on your table are there for you to order most of your food (the server will initially come up to you to ask what you would like to drink, I got a shochu matcha highball). IMPORTANT: If you order an alcoholic drink they will give you a small dish called “otoshi” which is mandatory and cannot be refused( tho you can chose to just not eat it). This is so you don’t drink on an empty stomach and is something that happens in most restaurants that serve alcoholic drinks.
The nigiri (にぎり) is numbered on the menu and the numbers correspond on the order sheet. The two vertical columns ask if you want wasabi in your nigiri or not (left column is yes and right column is no). Indicate how many of that nigiri you want in the boxes (ex: 1,2,3). Anything that is not given it’s own box on the sheet can be indicated in the free blank boxes on the bottom right corner ( this is where I put my order for the assorted tuna dish and my miso soup). When you are ready to order and if you need anything else in the future, call a worker with a “sumimasen” and/or raise your hand to show its you who is calling them.
P.S they give a complimentary green tea drink after your meal and the tuna is definitely the most worth it. Was not a fan of the marinated mackerel.
My order of sushi + my alcoholic drink + yuzu sherbert (which I highly recommend for dessert) + and small miso soup = 7,557¥ which is about $52.
Don’t forget to say “gochisosamadeshita” to the workers if you...
Read moreIf you are not Japanese do not go here. We (a family of 5, 3 teenage girls) went here and at the door the waiter actually waved us away and showed us a google translate that said 5 people cannot enter. We said we don’t mind sitting separately as we had to leave for the airport in an hour and a half and the man rudely kept shooing at us as if we were some dirty beggars on the street. It was the most incredibly rude behavior from any stranger that I had encountered in my entire 50 years of life. His shooing us away will be what ruined our otherwise pleasant and good one-week holiday in Tokyo. His mistreatment of us was so outrageous that we can only think that he must have something against foreigners or non-Japanese customers. If I were the owner or manager of this restaurant I would fire him today for how he shooed good customers away for absolutely no reason at all. I realize I should gave taken a photo of him shooing at us. He actually nearly...
Read moreThis was my second time being here. First time was in November 2017. Back then I was together with my japanese friend and I would give 4-5 stars. But this time was just terrible. The only (japanese-style) friendly staff member was a young guy who even opened the door for me. I ordered menu for ¥ 3000 and non-alcohol-beer for ¥ 400! ぼたんえび was missing and I had to remind the chef that there is no ガリ on my plate (yes! It's like you order a cheesburger and they forget the cheese). Unfortunately I realise the missing ぼたんえび too late to complain. They also charged ¥ 550 for draft beer instead of ¥ 400. So i paid an extra ¥ 550!!! for nothing. Maybe its not fraud but just carelessness... RESUME: For almost ¥ 4000 (in Japan) I expect more from than a German 3rd class restaurant! Or like a tourist trap in Southeast Asia or southern Europe. I am sorry I had to write such review. Thank you for...
