My experience here I was left very dissatisfied with both the food and service at this establishment.
To preface, I communicated in Japanese throughout my entire experience there, although English is my first language. I do not expect them to speak English to me but expect Service fees to be disclosed beforehand.
Food: The food despite it's appearances were very variable in terms of quality of taste and freshness. We ordered the fries, alambre, and three different tacos. The fries were essentially inedible and it was very abundant that they were frozen and prepared not fresh at all. The texture was extremely hard and brittle. The seasonings as well, left a strangely sweet taste which didn't help much with the quality of the fries. The alambre was a more pleasant dish, although there was excessive amounts of oil and grease which accumulated at the bottom. Lastly, the tacos severely lacked in flavour and the quality of meats were not fresh at all.
Service: Finishing our meal, I went to pay my bill and the worker there didn't show our orders and what was being charged which I've never experienced at any restaurants in Japan. As a result, when picking up the receipt I noticed we were charged a fee listed as "Charge", and questioning the worker about this, they showed the menu which had the charge written on the bottom in a small font in only Japanese. Upon explaining they we were unable to read this and that none of the staff explained it prior to us, they argued with me saying that since I paid already they could not do anything for us and left with no genuine apology.
TLDR: Food - low quality, tasteless Service - disingenuous, charging a per person fee without disclosure
Would not recommend this establishment for Mexican food. Instead I highly recommend dining at "Tacofanatico" at Shibuya which I highly commend...
Read moreWe came in without any expectations and we were still disappointed. My friend ordered a ceviche and 3 tacos and I just ordered a main dish, the chicken and beef Alambra. My friend had time to finish all of her dishes before my dish arrived it was unacceptable I waited 30min for it. The food was basic, her ceviche was literally drowned in lime juice, I did not try her tacos but she said they were basic and my chicken was good but the beef it’s a no. I never write a bad comment but I am sorry I did not felt welcomed by the staff since the beginning, they had to come 2 times to ask our orders because I guess did not wrote it well on their paper? We had to ask for water and again wait (when the restaurant was really not busy we went on a Tuesday night). When they served the meals we barely hear the explanations, literally a whisper, and the staff just went off as quickly without any smile, nothing. We saw so many good reviews we do not know what happened but our experience was really bad. NB: the music too, in an entire hour there was only 1 good song. I will not come again...
Read moreAs a Mexican I consider myself an expert in Mexican food or a very good one.
This restaurant was great, the menu has a lot of options for you to choose, the food was really nice and it was very similar to the food in Mexico. You’ll find pozole, volcanes, gringas, tacos, alambre, burritos, mole, enmoladas and more.
(I’m pointing this out because most of the “Mexican” restaurants in Japan or somewhere else are Tex-Mex, American styled food).
Modern Mexican Cabo’s has the traditional Mexican cuisine the texture, flavors, colors and the final product is delightful. Also you’ll find a really good selection of Mexican beverages.
They use actual corn tortillas and you can ask for some hot and delicious sauces.
The sizes are good but everything is so delicious that you would want to ask for more.
100% recommended. Come with your friends, family even a date, show them this little...
