Just checked out of the hotel after 5 nights of stay. First of all, I want to point out that the price is very reasonable. We stayed in a triple room. You could hardly find a triple room with private bathroom in Tokyo with the price we paid (just about ¥7XXX a night). There’s nothing I’d want to complain because travellers should know that you get what you pay. Below is my opinion about this hotel:
Pros: Hotel is new and clean Bed is very comfortable (not too soft or too hard) Amenities like toiletries(even shavers), kettle, small fridge, etc, are included Roof top open bath is super-relaxing after a long day of walk Staff are friendly and communication in English is not in issue Supply of towels is free and unlimited
Cons: (well, I shouldn’t really say cons... As I mentioned before, this is something you should expect) Room is REALLY TIGHT for triple room. There’s no room to move around. Please be alert before you book! Room makeup service is extra No clear instructions about garbage disposal. We need to ask the staff where to leave our garbage. Men’s hours for Rooftop open bath is from 5pm to 8pm. By the time we finish a day of sightseeing, my husband won’t be able to enjoy the bath (good for me though. Women’s hours is from 9pm-12midnight) Hotel is a bit far from the Metro Station (about 8-min walk) Bathtub in the Room easily got clogged by hair
Anyway, I’d recommend this hotel to any budget travellers like myself. Good news is that the staff is telling me the open bath will open in the morning in the...
Read moreKin Hotel is definitely a tourist friendly hotel, with staff that spoke conversational English and provided a fairly seamless check in experience. The hotel itself also had a scale available for use for tourists to ensure that their luggage met airline weight limits. The hotel also had a public bath available, which we did not end up checking out.
Beyond the tourist friendly check-in experience, the hotel left a bit to be desired. Rooms themselves although clean were extremely small. Much smaller than any of the other hotels that we stayed at during our trip. The room had a queen bed which took up most of the floorspace, leaving just enough space to walk on one side of the bed and in front of the bed. The space between the door and the bathroom was also barely enough space to open one full-sized luggage. Needless to say, since we had two full size luggage as well as two carry-ons, there was barely enough space for us.
Location itself was also not ideal, being around a 15 minute walk from Ueno station. Pricing was definitely on the cheaper side for Tokyo, but you get what you pay for.
If you're travelling alone, would definitely recommend this hotel, as room would have more than enough space to comfortably store one...

I really enjoyed the open-air rotenburo (hot spring bath) at the top of the hotel! Timing for males and females rotate, and as a result, you need to go to the front desk to change your room card for the 11th floor card, but it's easy and worth it. Also a pity that impressive views of the SkyTree are blocked by the high walls, but I can understand that for privacy reasons. Only met one other person the 3 times I went to the hot bath after a long day out.
Otherwise, KIN Hotel is walkable from Metro stations (about 10-15min if you don't mind walking a little, but perhaps not the best for people who can't walk as much), good value, right beside a small supermarket, and great views of the Tokyo SkyTree from the main road. Nearest tourist areas are Ueno and Asakusa. Front desk also helped hold my Amazon packages I delivered to the hotel, and also allows baggage storage for pre-check-in / post-check-out.
Highly...
