We are a family of 2 adults + 3 kids, who stayed at Mimaru Inaricho for 8 days. We were very happy with the best decision of our trip to stay here. ||1. People|One of the most important aspect of the accommodation is the people that are there, and the personnel at this hotel are wonderful people. The team is always very supportive and helpful, and really helped me out with food recommendations around the area. Oftentimes, Gina would help me out in the mornings as we start out day, with where is a good place for breakfast, and directions to attractions. In the evenings, Shu would help me out with places for dinner. ||2. Location||Subway|This location really worked out well for our family’s requirements and needs. It is very walkable. In that it is about 5 min walk or less to the nearest subway station (Inaricho). The station itself has the Ginza line and that was very useful to go to Asakasa, Ginza and Nihombashi.||Food:|There are many eating places, that suited our family within a 5 – 10 min walking radius. So it was very useful and convenient for us to go for dinner after a long day and return back to the hotel after that. ||Supermarket|There is a 24 hour supermarket about 3 min walk away. Literally, turn left and then turn left, and you are there. So very convenient for getting essentials, and snacks. ||3. Food||Breakfast wise, we either grabbed sandwiches from the supermarket, MacDonalds is also about a 5 min walk away. Or Café Katsura (7 min walk – Gina’s rec for simple sandwiches and coffee).||Dinnerwise, the hotel will have plenty of recommendations for you. But there is also one restaurant that we chanced upon walking around. It is about 10 – 15 walk from the hotel. And we had really great Italian food at very reasonable prices, so much that we went back to eat twice during the week that we were there. It is called PizzaKing, seriously delicious and at such reasonable prices, but take note that it accepts cash only. Love this place so much. Service is good too. Best to make reservations...
Read moreSo much for a reccomended hotel. There were a few things which was a turn off for this establishment, namely:
aircon for our room keeps turning off by itself even though we did not touch it, got woken up perspiring
If you are going to offer Apple TV rental, then make sure to actually cater for the number of rooms available at the hotel. We kept requesting for it but it was always “it is fully rented”. They don’t even have a system where perhaps guests can rent for 24hrs so that other guests can have a chance to rent it
This one actually feels like a scam. We had a load of clothes (less than 2 kg) and we actually picked this hotel as they had a coin laundry and dryer. Each 30min wash costs 400yen and 30min of drying costs 100yen. We used 2 washing machines and 2 dryers to ensure the clothes have a thorough wash, but after the first wash (the washing machine was supposed to automatically dispense detergent), the clothes doesn’t smell like there is any detergent at all. And this is a small load of clothes, about 1kg in each machine! The dryer was even worse, after spending 60min using 2 dryers, the clothes are still damp and lukewarm. Spent 1200yen in total with clothes that still smelled and damp. This feels like a complete cheat when I could’ve just gone across the road to use the laundromat there.
One more point. We realised that we only had a 5000yen note and wanted to see if the counter count help us break the note into 1000yen as it was the only note that the laundry room could change into coins. When I went to the counter and tried to ask for assistance, a person came out and just pointed at this signage that says “counter service available from 7am..”. Then I looked at my phone and it was…6:52am. I understand the country is strict on punctuality but I would appreciate if they could offer some flexibility on customer service
Otherwise accesibility is great with a few minutes walk...
Read moreMy family had an excellent experience here.
We were traveling with an infant, and if you know anything about Tokyo, it's that hotel rooms can be quite small. The Japanese-style room at this Mimaru location was perfect. It accommodated my wife and me perfectly, and had ample room for our kiddo. We used the tatami area as both a sleeping spot and play area for our kid when we had down time at the end of the day, which was perfect for a family that was walking with a stroller or with a kiddo in a carrier.
The room itself was very comfortable. It had any amenity you could ask for in, say, an AirBnb; the kitchen and full-sized fridge were great, and the shower set-up was amazing. For anyone traveling with young kids, this hotel also has a pack n' play set up and any child amenity you could want, including a child bath, a high chair, and more.
One thing I really liked about this hotel was also the location. It's a 4 minute walk from the Ginza line, which was great. It's also about 10 minutes from Ueno station, where the Yamanote line runs. It's just far enough that you're in a standard Tokyo neighborhood. It's a nice area with loads of local restaurants and shops, a bath house, a couple of less frequented Shinto shrines, and other amenities you won't get in more touristy areas. It's still close to everything, though; Ueno Station is just minutes away, and Asakusa is within a 20 minute walk. Shibuya is accessible by subway or by the JR line, as are other popular neighborhoods and sights.
Finally, the staff were all so, so awesome. They personally greeted our daughter every morning. They made us feel welcome no matter what we asked for, and they had great recommendations about where to eat, what to see, and where to go buy items that we needed for our stay. We can't wait to stay at Mimaru again, whether here or in another location depending on what our next trip to...
