Our family of four (2 adults, kids ages 8 and 12) had an fantastic 3-night stay at MONday Apart Premium Akihabara during our 10-day Japan trip. This was our first MONday Apart experience before heading to their Kyoto location, and it set the bar incredibly high.||Location:|The hotel's location is great. It's just a 5-7 minute walk to Tokyo Station and shopping areas. The Akihabara neighborhood was buzzing with energy and had tons of amazing food options within walking distance. Despite being in such a central, busy area, we felt completely safe walking around at all hours of the night. There were always people around, but everyone was quiet and respectful.|The Family Mart right around the corner was super convenient for grabbing essentials, snacks, and quick meals. We also discovered an incredible gem called Egoland Cafe just around the corner that served amazing coffee and breakfast bites. It soon became our go-to morning spot.||Staff:|Just like at their Kyoto property, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at every interaction. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and were always ready to assist with any questions about the area or our needs.||Room:|We were lucky to get a room on the 10th floor with a nice view of the city, which was a great bonus for the kids. The spacious rooms were very clean and perfect for our family. The bunk bed setup was ideal for our kids and even accommodated our tall 12-year-old comfortably.|The full kitchen came equipped with everything we needed: cutlery, dishes, bowls, chopsticks, pans, and knives, plus an induction stovetop that made preparing quick breakfasts easy. The bathroom featured a spacious shower/tub combo that worked well for our family of four.|Having an in-room washer/dryer was incredibly convenient, though I'd recommend not overfilling it since it's a combo unit. Lighter loads definitely dry much more effectively.||Price:|While we paid slightly more than our typical hotel budget, the value was exceptional considering we got apartment-style accommodation with a full kitchen, laundry facilities, comfortable sleeping for four people, and that unbeatable Tokyo location. The money saved on meals and laundry services probably offset the higher price.|This property served as the perfect base for exploring Tokyo. The combination of the fantastic location, great staff service, and well-appointed rooms made our introduction to Japan absolutely memorable. ||We would definitely seek out MONday Apart properties again on future...
Read moreI stayed at this location with my friends from April 11th to April 25th. For the first week and a half, there were six of us, but two members had to leave halfway through, and there were a total of four. We did have space for six adult men, but I don't think I would advise anyone to do that, as it did feel a little packed. The room was a much better fit when our party was reduced to four.
The bathroom was the highlight of our room. The spaciousness and comfort of the shower and tub, even for our tallest member (he is over six feet), provided a sense of ease. The temperate control of the water was a great feature, ensuring everyone had a comfortable shower. Just remember to use the panel to adjust the water heat to your liking and allow the water two minutes to heat up. The Bathroom also has a washer-dryer combo, and while it is in Japanese, it's easy to figure out how it works. You may need to use the dry cycle twice for your heavier clothes.
Like most beds in Japan, these are on the harder/very firm side. You may want to look elsewhere if you need a soft bed, but it is generally hard to find soft beds in Japan. We did have the extra space with the tatami mats. I didn't find sleeping on them very comfortable, but your experience may vary. There is a lot of storage under the beds and couch, so don't worry if you bring large luggage.
The kitchen has silverware, small cups, plates for your needs, and a decent refrigerator for storing food and drinks. For you who travel with laptops or game devices, yes, you can get to the back of the TV and use the HDMI ports for your devices. They are not locked down, as in some western hotels.
The staff came every three days to clean the room, and the front desk staff were all amiable. However, the late-night staff guy came off as aggressive and rude. I had to use the front desk bathroom as someone was using our bathroom. When I came down to the first floor and walked to the extra bathrooms, he appeared upset with me, stating that I needed to ask him to use the extra bathrooms in the future. One of my friends had a similar encounter with him another day, saying he was aggressive, and they had no idea why. Maybe he was having a bad few days, but I did find it strange, especially in Japan.
Overall, a great experience and a great choice if you're looking to stay in central Tokyo with a small group of...
