Sakura Ryokan Asakusa Iriya — Hotel in Tokyo

It doesn't look like much, but this is a hidden gem. Old but clean and good smell. An authentic Ryokan. Three generations of a sweet family running the business and taking care of the facilities. Clean and professional. They and good hosts.

If you have a baby, they have a good "kitchen" area on the first floor with a good hot/cold water dispenser, free snacks, microwave etc.

Shower and toilet are also shared spaces, and they keep it clean and nice.

The location is perfect if you, like us, want to have easy access to the central and intense parts of Tokyo but in the evening come home to a more relaxed and more residenital area. You will have easy access because it's close to Iriya metro station. If you have JR-pass it's also nice location because you are at walking distance from two JR-stations where you can use the pass for free exploration.

If you're uncomfortable sharing slippers, there is a shimano fishing equipment store down the big street selling slippers for a low price.

The big store just down the big road called Consumerism has really good variety of bento meals and more. We always stopped by there in the morning to pick up adventure food before heading out :)

Had a safe and convenient stay with a small child. They have Western style as well as Japanese rooms - tried both and the family room. All were very clean and tidy. While the regular rooms are rather small, the family room is enormous with separate bathroom and toilets. Baby got a bed for free. Common fridges are placed in each floor. There's also kitchen for preparing and enjoying one's own food.||||Bath is shared between men and women (women should lock the door when they use it). There is laundry machine and elevator making it a very convenient stopover place during longer travels.||||There is no station nearby, but it was no problem as we traveled by car. Parking, meanwhile, was free. Easy to find restaurants and convenience stores nearby (just 2 minute walk or so).||||Only negative aspect for us was that people were smoking in the common kitchen area near to the reception. Basically one needs to walk through this space whenever entering or leaving. Also, in the three rooms were stayed in, there was virtually no view whatsoever form the windows as the adjacent building...

We took a triple room even if we were just 2 persons, to get more space to put our futons and our bags ... and we could not even fit properly (and we are not large/fat). Our bathroom (small shower and toilet) was so tiny that we recommend persons higher than 1m70 and bigger than 90kg not to come here. Yukatas far too washed-out. Free wifi and TV, which was nice. Reception staff not very welcoming. Good futons, and good sound-insulation !! 1 coin laundry machine and 1 dryer next to the garage (most of the time full of clothes but just ask for a basket and it will be ready to use). In Asakusa, a bit hard to find. Not the best location, but it is in a quiet street and you can access all Asakusa sightseeing places by walking. All in all it was far too expensive for services provided. Hotel a bit outdated, furmiture not very yound/solid inside rooms, ... some refurbishment would be good idea.
