I've heard your hotel experience can make or break a trip, which is why I am incredibly thankful to have stumbled upon Section L while planning my 3 month stay in Tokyo!
Room - For my stay, I booked the Hyyge Studio Queen - Tokyoiter Edition. The design of the room (and the hotel as a whole) is chic, simple, and tasteful. All of the furniture are of high quality (BoConcept) and made my long stay feel more like I was living in an apartment than a hotel! There is quite a lot of storage for your clothes and other belongings, space to lounge around, and a bathroom with a deep tub. I especially enjoyed having a washer/dryer and a kitchenette to cook food.
Major kudos to the housekeeping staff — everything was SO CLEAN and no bleach scent!
Location - The location made commuting to work and exploring Tokyo easy. Very nearby (5 minute walk), you have the Yamanote Line which does a huge loop around Tokyo and is a direct train to places like Shibuya, Harajuku, and Tokyo station. There's also the Oedo and Asakusa Lines (5 minute walk) which takes you to most notably Roppongi, Omotesando, and Ginza. Whenever I felt like exploring a new neighborhood, it usually meant hopping on a single train.
There are tons of places to eat and drink especially if you don't mind walking 10 minutes in either direction. The hotel is on a quiet street with a handful of coffee/pastry shops and izakayas. There are also options to see beautiful greenery such as Shiba Park, Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens, and Hamarikyu Gardens.
Staff - There aren't enough words to describe how sweet, professional, and caring the Section L staff is. They made me feel welcomed and at home for my entire stay (and past it)! From check-in, to conversations about my day, and a ton of great recommendations, they made the Section L experience warm and unique. I want to give a very special thank you to Fikiri, Constantine, Li, and Jen — you've set the standard extremely high!
Section L is seriously one-of-a-kind! Being a guest of theirs was a whole new experience I didn't know existed. Thank you for making my month-and-a-half stay and my first time in Tokyo so memorable. Excited to stay at your Kuramae location next (thanks Jen for helping me with the...
Read moreThis was my partner and I's first trip to Tokyo. I did about a month of research of where to stay, and kept coming back to section L. It's been my dream to visit Tokyo since I was a child, but I have allot of food allergies so I needed something with a kitchen as a back up in case I couldn't find anything to eat. I was nervous about booking section L since it's newer, but WOW I am so glad I did!
Our flight to Tokyo got all kinds of messed up by our airline, so we were going to be arriving a day later than expected, so I messaged the staff on the messaging app. The staff is AMAZING! You use an app called intersection to message them, and they respond super quick. I was able to check in a day later than our original check in date.
As for the when we arrived, I only speak and read a little Japanese (I don't know much kanji), but all the staff spoke perfect English and the room had instruction guides in English and Japanese for appliances (the toilet was incredible btw I am missing it right now). The room was super super clean and comfy, I loved having a table to sit at. Our room even had a little balcony and we could see the top of the Tokyo Tower. Every morning I would go to the lobby and get a free little Nespresso pod (Your first cup of the day is free, and additional cups are only 100 yen) then sit at the table in our room and relax before going out. They have google chrome casts for the TV's so I got to catch up on all my youtube videos.
At the end of our trip I wanted to extend our stay because our airline cut our trip a day short, and the staff was able to work it out so we were able to stay in the same room and stay one more night which I am so thankful for!!
Basically, I am now a loyal section L customer and plan to stay either at this location or another section L location on...
Read moreOur stay at Section L Hamamatsucho was an amazing experience. Upon entering the hotel, the friendly staff at the reception helped us check in and gave us great recommendations for what to do in Tokyo. The room was compact (as one would expect in Tokyo), and everything was super tidy, clean, modern and thoughtfully designed in a very Muji-esque way, with nice prints on the walls to brighten the room. We only stayed here for 3 nights but I can imagine this would be a great spot to stay for longer too as it has simple kitchen utensils like pots, pans and a nice big fridge so you can cook your own meals. The bed was comfortable and we slept really well.
Location was pretty convenient and is a short walk from Daimon station. One day we got lazy and took a taxi to Ginza and it wasn’t too expensive.
One of the best parts of staying here was the staff. Everyone was super hospitable and friendly. We made the mistake of leaving booking a car (we had to drive to Fuji) till very last minute during cherry blossom season, and found it really difficult to find a car for hire. The two staff at the reception spent more than an hour helping us secure a car hire and got us out of a very stressful situation! They also helped us make a restaurant booking as the restaurant staff did not understand English.
Thank you Section L for making our Tokyo stay easy and memorable! We will be coming back here again next time we’re...
