๐ During our trip to Japan in December 2023, we had the pleasure of staying in the bustling district of Shinjuku, specifically in the lively neighborhood of Kabukicho. Amidst the vibrant nightlife and energetic streets, we discovered a hidden gem: "KABUKICHO SUSHI DOKORO KIKUCHI". This delightful sushi restaurant turned out to be a true highlight of our journey.
โญ We were a group of four adults and a baby, traveling from Spain. The restaurant, tucked away from the view of passersby, offered a serene and authentic Japanese dining experience that contrasted beautifully with the outside hustle and bustle. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the owner, an elderly gentleman whose kindness and attentiveness made us feel right at home.
๐ From the moment we stepped in, the staff ensured that we were comfortable, taking special care to accommodate our baby. Despite being foreigners, we never felt out of place, thanks to their exceptional hospitality. The atmosphere was welcoming, with a mix of local patrons that added to the authenticity of the experience.
๐ The sushi at KABUKICHO SUSHI DOKORO KIKUCHI was nothing short of sublime. Every piece was crafted to perfection, and it was undoubtedly the best sushi we tasted throughout our entire trip in Japan. The flavors were fresh and exquisite, reflecting the high quality of the ingredients and the skill of the sushi chefs.
๐ฒ๐ One of the most pleasant surprises was the pricing. Given the superb quality of both the food and the service, we found the prices to be very reasonable. It was an excellent value for money, and we left feeling extremely satisfied.
๐ In conclusion, we highly recommend visiting KABUKICHO SUSHI DOKORO KIKUCHI if you find yourself in Kabukicho. It offers an authentic Japanese dining experience with top-notch sushi and outstanding hospitality. It's a must-visit spot that delivers exceptional value and a memorable...

The place is run by an older Japanese sushi chef with a rude demeanour. We were seated at the counter along with 2 other Asian tourist groups who arrived after us. All of us were given the English menus which only included nigiri sets starting at 2500 yen and very overpriced nigiri starting at ~350 yen. One of the other customers reached for the Japanese menu and we saw the chef rip it out of their hand and say something along the lines of: โNo! This is the Japanese menu!โ Iโm absolutely positive the English menu was limited in its selection and pricier than whatever was on the Japanese menu. We ended up ordering the cheapest nigiri sets on the menu which came with 7 pieces of below average quality nigiri and 1 tuna maki for 2500 yen. The entire time we were there, we felt extremely uncomfortable as the sushi chef was quite literally keeping an eye on all of the customers to make sure no one tried to grab the Japanese menu and was extremely unfriendly and rude. I also suspect he does treat some tourists favourably, hence the high positive reviews. Such a negative and unpleasant...
ย ย ย Read moreThe food was great but the service was a bad experience. Chef asked if we wanted wasabi on our shared plate, one of us said yes and the other no. He said something in Japanese and we ended up with all wasabi so some misunderstanding must have happened. We werent upset about it but we mentioned it to the chef who seemed very irritated and yelled something about not understanding in Japanese and did not do anything to fix the situation.
My partner ended up eating nothing and the chef did not look our way until when we left where he gave me (not my partner) a halfhearted "sorry".
I understand that there was a misunderstanding but
Sadly the experience with the chef made us very disappointed with the whole experience. Treat your...
