The front desk male staffer working on Aug 31st 4:45pm. I think he had glasses, i didn't get his name but I am writing this positive review because of him. He went above and beyond any normal standard and made this a 5 star experience. He offered suggestions for refreshments nearby after seeing us carry 3 large shopping bags, sweating and catching our breath in the heat. We were coming back to pick up our luggage since we had already checked out. He offered to order a taxi because we had 2 very heavy luggage, a small luggage and 2 backpacks. But when we said we were going to Haneda airport, he said it will be very expensive (90-100,000 yen) but you can also walk 5 mins to the bus stop 3 blocks from here and it will cost you 1/3 of the price (1400 yen per person) and take you directly to the airport (1 stop). He was very friendly, kind and took a great deal of initiative (without being asked) to make our trip and transport better. I wish I got his name because I don't think many 5 star hotel staff will even do this. This was hotel #5-6 after travelling to Osaka, Kyoto, Okinawa, Ishigaki and Hokkaido. Staff at this hotel are fluent in English, first time I saw that in all of my hotel stays in other cities including Osaka. Thank you to this staffer for being SO kind and thoughtful. You really left an impression on us!

I highly recommend this hotel for the helpful staff (friendly to foreigners), 10-15 min walk to Shinjuku station, larger bed size (Queen instead of double) and mostly very clean (we did find a small piece of hair when I wiped the sink faucet handle). I bring disinfectant wipes to clean high touch surfaces of hotel rooms (remotes, tables, handles, toilet seat etc). Air conditioning was very strong and you can adjust the temperature to your liking. The dehumidifier worked very well to get rid of the musty scent other guests mentioned. Rooms are small like every hotel in Tokyo but it is designed for you to just sleep and have a small bite in the room. Very large bathtub and shower. It's the perfect room size for 2 people (we booked a Queen Room). Has a mini fridge, kettle, cups and hair dryer in your room. Hotel also offers complimentary toothbrush, Q-tips, disposable slippers, razor, tea, coffee, shower cap etc. Being close to Shinjuku station helps connect you to all the Tokyo Metro lines which we found helpful since we bought the 72 hour metro pass. There's a lot of other private rail companies and lines (that does not belong to Tokyo Metro) so if you want to use your Tokyo Metro Pass, you need to check if it is part of the 8-10 Tokyo Metro subway lines. Otherwise, you have to pay extra either cash or using your IC Card (which you can only top up in Japan with cash if you do not have a Japanese credit card).

We would prefer to be a 5 min walk to Shinjuku to get to and from places more easily but for the price and quality, it was difficult to find a hotel that has Queen size beds at this price and quality. Tokyo is expensive so you can pay more to be 5 mins closer or just plan your days better so you don't need to go back to your hotel mid-day. We slept in till 10am or 11am and was out till about 9pm almost everyday. It gave us a chance to sightsee in the day and see the city come alive at night. It was perfect for Tokyo. In Osaka, our hotel was 1 min from the subway so we would go back and rest before going out again but depends how you like to travel. Both worked well for us.

I always felt very safe in the area as well. At night, we heard absolutely NO noise despite being next to a busy area. The blackout curtain and blinds were AMAZING. We slept in until 11am at times and the room was pitch dark. We slept very well. Pillows and mattress was very comfortable (firm with a touch a softness on top, just perfect). I paid about $100-140 CAD per night (i booked separate bookings), it was amazing value for that price. It was $100 per night for the nights I booked 2 months in advance. I booked last minute for the other night and it was only $130-140 CAD. Again, highly recommend...

recently stayed at Hotel Villa Fontaine Tokyo-Shinjuku, and it was hands down one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. If you're visiting with friends, this place absolutely delivers in all the ways that matter — comfort, convenience, and value.Cleanliness (5/5):The room was spotless upon arrival and remained pristine throughout our stay. The housekeeping staff clearly takes pride in their work — everything from the bathroom to the bedding was immaculate. You could literally walk around barefoot without a second thought. Even the shared spaces like the lobby and elevators were kept in top shape, which made a huge difference in how relaxed and welcome we felt.Location (5/5):Situated right in the heart of Shinjuku, the hotel is a dream for travelers who want easy access to Tokyo’s nightlife, food scene, and public transportation. We could walk to restaurants, convenience stores, and even entertainment spots within minutes. Despite being in such a busy district, the area around the hotel felt safe and relatively quiet, especially at night. It struck a perfect balance between excitement and comfort.Service (5/5):The staff were incredibly polite, professional, and helpful. Even with a slight language barrier at times, communication was smooth and respectful. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable — whether it was helping with luggage, explaining how to use the amenities, or just greeting us warmly each day. Their friendliness really elevated the whole experience.Amenities (5/5):For a hotel that leans toward the budget-to-mid-range side, the amenities were surprisingly comprehensive. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable (a must these days), and the room had all the basics like a fridge, air purifier, and kettle. The bathroom was well-equipped with toiletries and a high-quality shower. The laundry machines on site also came in handy — especially since we were traveling for a while.Final Thoughts:If you're coming to Tokyo with friends and want a reliable, clean, and well-located hotel without blowing your budget, Hotel Villa Fontaine Tokyo-Shinjuku is a fantastic choice. It exceeded our expectations in every category. We’d absolutely stay here again and confidently recommend...

I had such a great experience with this hotel. The staff were so helpful and friendly despite the language barrier. Thankfully we both had a device/app that helped us communicate with each other.

The previous hotel we stayed at didnt really do a good job informing us on how our package would arrive at the airport so we ask the staff at this hotel to see if they can talk to them (we tried contacting the service ourselves but were unable to). The staff that helped us gave us piece of mind that our luggage safely arrived.

We had another package to send over to the airport using the services this hotel offers, unfortunately we got the package ready too late and it wouldnt be able to arrive on time. The hotel staff were so apologetic even though it wasnt their fault! They helped us with our situation by providing complementary gifts as well as a few other things to hopefully help ease off some stress we were experiencing.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. The distance from this hotel to the station is about 10 minutes away, rooms were decent size for 2 people, and theres a lot of food places and don quiote was close by! My fiance and I will definitely come back to this hotel. Truly amazing service. Thank you for all the help to the day and night shift staff!! We greatly appreciate you :)

Other noteworthy information for travelers: no onsen, but their bath is onsen style with the tub and separate shower area. They have heated toilet seats! Complimentary water...

I stayed at Villa Fontaine Hotel in Shinjuku for 20 nights with 2 adults in a queen bed room. We got a good flight and hotel deal on Expedia for the month of February. Check-in was at 3:00 PM, and check-out at 11:00 AM. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the train station and subway, and just 5 minutes to the heart of Shinjuku with plenty of food and things to do. The staff were incredibly friendly, and their English was great. They even held our bags before check-in. The hotel is simple but clean, and every 3 days they did a deeper clean with new bedding, while fresh towels and water were provided daily unless you put up a "Do Not Disturb" sign. The room was spacious enough that it didn’t feel claustrophobic, and we could easily open all three of our suitcases. Amenities included pajamas, toothbrushes, razors, face cleansers, moisturizers, green tea, and coffee. After I requested English breakfast tea, they provided a fantastic selection after over a week. While the hotel is near busy Shinjuku, it wasn’t too noisy. If you’re out exploring, you’ll likely be too tired to notice. For 20 days, it felt like home, and we’d definitely stay again. A big thank you to the staff! Note: We didn’t need parking or dining options, so I can’t speak to those. There’s no washing machine or tumble dryer, but a public laundromat is just a 2-minute walk away. It was easy to use, and the price was 100 yen for 10 minutes.

The hotel room itself is nice that I appreciate they provide spacious shower and bathtub room sperated by a glass door, so that we enjoyed bathing here and dry up ourselves in a non streamy area. Bed and pillow is not bad as well and we can adjust air con in the room during winter, at least the room itself is not stuffy. BUT, BUT,,,,,,, if they mentioned the room is with breakfast, they should provide a proper dining area for breakfast with freshly brewed coffee or tea, bread fruit, cereals and yoghurt. THIS IS THE BASICS. But the the snack box as shown is what they provided us. We are soooooo shock when we received this snack box. Not because of the value, is because of the human habit. We need a proper place to have breakfast but not having sandwiches in the same room we sleep. It is a poooooooor experience. Please tell the truth to the public that there is no breakfast provided in fact, so that we can make our clear decision. Maybe if the visitor with no habit of having breakfast, they will still choose to stay here.

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the station through the bustling Shinjuku district. There is plenty to see along the way so it never feels like a long walk. The area is perfect for exploring Japanese culture. At night the whole area lights up with restaurants, bars, excitement and lots of people. The hotel is simple, very efficient and the service is extremely polite (speaks English!) and helpful. The rooms are very small, as you would expect, the toilet has the infamous Japanese toilet (must try - 38 degree seats!), shower, towels, everything you could want in a very small space. There is room for your luggage, the double bed and... not much else. Watch out for breakfast - once you dial the number and say "breakfast, please" I'm sure it only took 20 seconds for our box to arrive. Really fun, delicious food and efficient. Gotta love Japan!
