We stumbled upon Boyotei while searching for dinner in this quiet town, where most restaurants close early. Thankfully, Boyotei stays open until 8:30 PM, and what a delightful find it turned out to be! The exterior is beautifully adorned with charming lighting, setting a welcoming atmosphere. Inside, the décor is unique and cozy, styled like an old-century knight’s beer bar—a characterful touch that makes the experience even more memorable. The service was exceptional. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, letting us know that food would take 20-30 minutes to prepare as everything is made fresh to order. And the wait was absolutely worth it! I had the scallop and mushroom spaghetti, served sizzling on a hotplate. The slight charring from the hotplate added a smoky depth to the flavors, elevating the dish to another level—truly amazing! My friend ordered the hamburger patty with rice, which was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tender. It practically melted in your mouth, and the accompanying sauce complemented the flavors beautifully. If you’re in Toya, this café is a must-try. Delicious food, warm service, and a cozy atmosphere—it checks all the boxes for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!

We were recommended to give Boyotei a try serving western dishes and particular the Hamburg choices. A cozy restaurant and decent dining space. We had to wait about 20 minutes as we rock up during peak of lunch time. We ordered the Hamburg steak combo; pasta bake and the recommended seasonal asparagus. I strongly recommend the hamburg steak and having tasted the dish in almost every place I've visited in Japan, I would rate this very highly. If you do drop by during later Spring and Summer, please do get the asparagus. It tastes completely different than most places. Price is very reasonable, however it may take between 15-25 mins for a meal to be served as it is quite busy. Location maybe a little tight, and I'm not fan of their choices of seats. Place is kid friendly, but not easy to use a pram, and may not offer baby chairs. However we were able to work around it handling our toddler. IG: chris.kr80s

I realized the history of this place much later, but it's an establishment from 1950s run by the same family and the staff too have been there for many many years. Really friendly, accomodating and making you feel welcome. overlooking lake toya this was such a great find..extremely cosy once inside as well the menu was quite exhaustive. We had the winter special which was absolutely phenomenal and filling. For the veggie we got the potatoes and veg noodles (removes the scallops and made with mushroom), the meat noodles and chicken gratin were really great. The chicken with tomago rice was not the katsu curry but a demiglaced tomato sauce which was sweeter than I thought. But overallg great food and reasonable. The French onion soup was really great as well!

Love this place that's decorated with dark wood furnishings, loads of famous Japanese people pictures on the walls. It's celebrating its 70th anniversary! Warm and relaxed atmosphere. Has its own parking lot right across the street. It can accommodate groups, which is not usual for Japanese restaurants. Menu consists of hamburger steak (signature dish that comes in various weights, actually!), pork cutlets, curry rice dishes, fish, gratin dishes, sandwiches, and even spaghetti - you can say this is Japanese interpretation of western dishes but they taste great. My favourite is their hamburger steak while the curry sauce is fabulous. The best deal is the set that comes with a soup and coffee besides the main dish. There's an English menu, so do not despair. Service is brisk and friendly. Go visit a vintage classic car shop next door - it's got an...
