I stayed three nights at this hotel that is across the road from Riga railway station and the attached major shopping centre that has a large supermarket, KFC and other eateries.||I arrived by train and by 0945 hours thanks to Nikolas at reception was kindly given early room availability.||The hotel has two efficient lifts and 110 rooms "mostly all renovated" according to hotel staff. That statement may have suffered in translation. I suspect they meant all rooms are renovated. One staffer said renovations had finished within the last 12 montgs.||My fourth floor room looked on to the former moat and had trolleybuses regularly passing but soundproofing was excellent. Sometimes a trolleybus caused the room to shudder a bit.||The blackout curtains did a good job.||WiFi never failed.||The bedroom floor was timber.||The bedding was two large singles pushed together. Linen was very good quality including the doonas/duvets. The pillows were large and comfortable.||Given it was mid autumn, the heating by a window worked well. I did not test the aircon.||The bedroom had a large desk with a chair and lamp. There was a lounge chair to the side.||A generous wardrobe was complemented by a hidden safety deposit box and a good bar fridge. The latter two faced the desk.||There was a small standalone round table plus two lamp-equipped bedside ones. Power points were under the latter.||Lighting was great in the bedroom.||The small but well designed bathroom had a very efficient shower with white fluffy towels supplied. A hairdryer was available.||Lighting for shaving could have been better. Small packets of soap were gratis.||Some grout at the shower base was turning black, but this did not affect my showering. Some water pooled a bit on the bathroom floor but placing the bathmat minimised this.||Two bottles of water were free.||I did not breakfast at the hotel as yoghurt was not on offer.||The hallways were carpeted to reduce noise.||Like Nikolas, Alise at reception was also helpful.||Laundry was expensive but that is par for the course for hotels.||This hotel also has tram route 1 within 250 metres.||Ignore the negative reviews. My three night autumnal stay cost less...
Read moreWe arrived in the morning and were told that check in is at 3pm which was fine. We returned at 2.40 and were told that the room isnt ready yet, that was also fine, we waited 20mins more and guy told us at 3.00 that our room is ready and gave us the key. We didnt complain that we had to wait until 3pm but what happened next is complete mess. We went up with tons of luggage and a small child only to find dirty room, like literally was untouched, food leftovers from previous guests, filthy bathroom, messy bed sheets off. What did we wait for, if he assigned us dirty room? With tons of luggage and little child in horrible heat we went downstairs, but there was already queue, more ppl checking in so we had to wait some more. The guy working that day was behaving weirdly and I am convinced he did this on purpose as I commented that "at least the room will be squeeky clean when we need to wait until 3pm sharp". No appology from his side or explanation, his facial expression was stone cold, he gave us a different room. South facing and towards train station (i specifically asked not to have room facing train station). We didnt want to haggle more as we were tired and hot. The Air conditioning WASNT WORKING and it was heat wave that week. I suspect it is forever broken because I see it in reviews all the time. The room had a fan that didnt help at all - we left the windows open bc of heat and the noise was unbearable so we didnt sleep at all. The next morning we were luckily checking out, but we also had breakfast. When we arrived they told us we're not on the list (the guy likely didnt assign us to current room) but the girl finally found our name somewhere. 18eur/person for breakfast is too much for what is offered. Before Liliane the manager writes how we are wrong - this hotel to us looked modern, renovated, great location but as everywhere human factor is most important and to us it seems like it is run by amateurs. You can of course write how we totally misunderstood it all like you did on booking, but instead I suggest fixing the A/C and training your staff properly. We are very well travelled, not too demanding, but this...
Read moreI fled the 63 euros for the room the difference from the fact that I chose! In the room there was not even a kettle as it is placed with tea and coffee !!. View from the window is just terrible with one with the toroni is evidently a dirty roof and an old building on the other hand The window just blocked .. The room is pure and warm. With regard to cable TV This is generally horror. In the country there is such a thing that the signal is so that the German or other language is constantly disappeared. Such a language is very cute and the other language is very cute and are always ready to help with the breakfast. It's really poor and it is really true for the past. It is really poor and he really does not match 4 stars. It is not necessary to just have a matter of it .. I remained very not happy !! I was in size for a pile for a room that does not match the meal that I have to take the deposit. I can still take the deposit., And a lot of shops of stops transport, I have a booming command, and then, you need to pay such a service in the shock, if you are exposing to the city center and present this service to the special attention, if you are exposed to the bowling comment on this to pay special attention to the fact that this is the best to offer the bulbing the first to make this special attention to this that this is of this proposal, the first time, we need to first particularly ensure that this is corresponding to what kind of balk.I want to give advice !!! I'm a lot where I have and always about Riga please speak a good way. This time I stayed...
