This is the best tour of Riga by the best tour guides, especially Toms! I've been to Riga 3 times and taken the tour twice, this year I was with friends and I contacted Toms in advance to arrange the night kayaking tour in addition to the walking tour. Toms arranged everything for us and we had an amazing time. The kayaking was a highlight of our trip and the guide who took us out on the water was an expert. I've written more about this below tor those interested. I truly recommend this tour and can't thank Toms enough for his help.
Night time kayaking tour: this was a highlight of our trip and I wanted to add more detail because there are some mixed reviews about this online which worried me at first but knowing that I had already met Toms a year before on the walking tour I contacted him and wanted to book my group in. I was over the weight limit but Toms was able to help with this too, this meant my friend's didn't miss out and I could join in. Here's the main thing I want everyone to know - the mixed reviews are only because the guide who does the tour (not Toms) is an experienced kayaker who really knows his stuff... He takes the instruction part of the tour seriously and so he should. Some reviews have said he is harsh or has shouted at people but if you follow his instructions you will not only be safe but have a great time. Once our confidence was built up we really bonded with him and the tour was amazing. My advice would be to listen at the start to the instructions and relax. The views from the water are amazing and it's such a great experience kayaking the river and canals of Riga, one we will...
Read moreThis is an excellent tour of Riga. Although we had studied our guide book before the tour, we learned lots of new interesting facts - not only about the town's historical background, but also about today's political situation, life in Riga and fascinating anecdotes (e.g. about the Rigan "Baker Street"). Our group was very international (Germany, India, Great Britain, Spain, France,...), but our tour guide managed to find an interesting link between Riga and each and every one of these countries (and he even remembered where we all came from till the end of the tour). He had such a profound background knowledge that he could answer all our questions and you could feel that he really loves and knows"his" city. Although the tour took longer than planned we enjoyed every single minute of it and we can highly...
Read moreOld Riga Free Tour: Having spent a few days in Riga after the tour on the first evening, I don't think the guide did justice to the beauty of the city. His narrative had little to do with the sights we visited, and the part of the city we walked through wasn't the most interesting or beautiful either. There were many highlights of the city he could have introduced or mentioned but failed to do so. In short, the tour didn't give a good overview of the attractions of the city a first-time tourist would expect.
Reply to owner's response: Yes, the tour started at the house with the cats on the rooftop, speaking of which, I found it disappointing that the guide didn't mention anything about the house or what made it special, although it was chosen as the starting point. It was an evening tour that...
