It was late in the evening when we continued our search for a restaurant serving Latvian cuisine where we could enjoy a quiet dinner. We had been out all day, and exhaustion had set in.
This is where we stumbled upon Rīga's elegant new restaurant, Laika Bulvāris.
We were only a couple of weeks since the restaurant opened.
It's a well-lit setup with wooden furniture and good decor. It's very close to the Central Station.
Most importantly, the food they serve is both delicious and filling. We opted for Cepta laša fileja (Grilled Salmon Fillet) and Ones Kotletes (Grandma's Meatballs).
It was perfectly paired with mājas vīni (house wine). We tried both varieties on offer: mājas sarkanvīns (red wine) and mājas baltvīns (white wine).
A heartfelt thank you to Madara and the other girl whose name we forgot to ask. Both were gracious hosts, very friendly, and spoke excellent English. Thank you and God bless you both.

It’s not fancy or stylish, but it turned out to be a great recommendation. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are generous, and the food is genuinely tasty. We even went back the next day.
The first visit was more memorable — our dish came with a side of fermented cabbage salad, which added a nice local touch. The second time, it was just a regular fresh salad, which felt a bit less exciting. I’d definitely suggest they keep offering that cabbage version!
The interior is simple, and they rely on a large air-conditioning unit to cool the space, which can be a bit noisy. Still, considering the food and prices, it’s absolutely worth it. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait — about 30 minutes for the...
Read moreUnfortunately, the food had absolutely no taste as there wasn’t salt added to the chicken fillet at all. Just plain chicken, wouldn’t recommend. We had both the crispy chicken and the chicken with cheese on top(even the cheese was so basic and no flavour at all) . Both chickens tasted very poor. From the bright side I really recommend the cold beetroot soup and the side of potatoes for all dishes were delicious! I wish we had a better experience, but the waiting was 1,5 hours for the food . And receiving such tasteless chicken after that long waiting was a big disappointment. I’d really love to give the place another chance, however do I specifically ask for adding the salt when cooking chicken? Simply a pinch of salt on the chicken breast before putting it into oven? The waitress was very kind and friendly,...
