This was by far the best hotel we've stayed at so far. The staff were very welcoming. The room was cosy but classy. The bathroom was quite large and the shower was a really roomy walk-in/wet room style which was great. We visited the spa which is simple, but has everything you could want as well as complimentary refreshments (tea etc). Breakfast is pre-ordered with a waited table service (not a banquet style), but we actually prefered this as our breakfasts were individually prepared for us which I feel is much nicer than standing around an industrial toaster with a bunch of sleepy Germans. One thing that made the hotel stand out for us was the lack of children. It was really nice not to have other people's kids running around everywhere when you are trying to relax, I really wish there were more spas like this. The hotel is also well situated for the old town, Klaipeda Castle, and for the passenger ferry for the Curonian Spit, but not so close that there is any loud sound; It was a very quiet location.
I saw some other reviews about temperature in the rooms. Yes, it's true there's no aircon. However, we visited when it was 26 degrees c outside and we slept just fine without needing to open the window or use the fan that was provided. The other thing people seem to mention is that it's not kid freindly, but for a childless couple like us that was a huge advantage and one of the reasons we'll be...
Read moreWhen in Klaipeda, we usually stay at this hotel. We choose it because they make you feel welcome and it was usually nice experience. However not this time. The reception clearly made us feel like she wanted to get rid of us so she could get back go her “Sunday evening time”. We arrived on Sunday evening, and asked if bar / restaurant which is in hotel is working. Her answer was short: “no”. No suggestion where to go. Ok, restaurant not working, but if we want a bottle of wine - we can’t have one. Is it so difficult for staff to suggest and sell one? Yes you can drink one, which they offer in a room, 375 ml for 20 EUR (previously they the bottle in the room it was 750 ml for same price). The part of the welcome experience is welcome drink - glass of bubbles. We were not offered one (still glasses for drinks were prepared on the table, so they still offer such compliment). We checked in to the room. Where was no soap so I called to receptionist and asked for one. When receptionist came, I decided to ask about the welcome drink. The answer was “Emm. Maybe tomorrow”.
The way you feel about the hotel is everything combined. Staff, services, rooms. How stuff makes you feel. This time stuff made us feel unwelcome. I hope this is just about one person, not about the whole concept...
Read moreThe rating is based solely on the breakfast as it was outstanding. However, they made an error in setting up our transportation from the airport in Pelanga. I reconfirmed twice that our flight arrived around noon (using 24 hour time) and it was misinterpreted as arriving at midnight. I wasn't billed for it and finding a Bolt taxi was easy so no harm there. However, and this is just a personal observation, I felt we were more tolerated as a couple versus warmly welcomed. I say this as I read other comments where guests mentioned being offered a glass of Prosecco at check in. I saw some cases during our stay when passing by the check in desk. That's not a big issue, just an observation. || After the staff apologized for the mistake on the airport transfer, we were handed our keys and advised the room would be ready in 20 minutes. We were offered to wait in the bar/terrace area, which we did. But no one came to us to say the room was ready. We had to take it upon ourselves to go to the room. It was a lovely room but, as mentioned in other reviews, we could hear a lot of sounds in the hall.||But the breakfast and location were ideal and made our...
