Food was great. But service .. i never complain and always give tips. But this time after spending 60 euroes. Had to leave with a piece of paper left in tip box which had sad smiley face on it. The waitress didn't ask of we are paying separately or together (9 people) i asked her to bring a separate plate said yes, but never did it. Waiting time was so so so long, but restaurant was empty. We were sat at 2 separate tables. But for some reason waitress thought that bringing forks and leaving them on one table it fine so i had to do her job and walk on top of that she brought a huge dish wish is for 4 people and i asked her to take the empty huge plate to the kitchen cause the table is tiny and we have no space for our plates. She forgot to do that. So i literally had to carry it myself to the kitchen. Also my friend didn't speak lithuanian and she asked waitress for something in English. Waitress just stood there saying nothing. And then she pinned her eyes on me as if i am an interpretor. Could have at least say sorry no english. Or asked me can you please translate? Nothing of the kind. And then we asked for the bill like 16.45 and at 17.00 still no bill. So i asked and said politely our tour bus is leaving in 7min. Can you please bring the bill. Still it took her ages. No goodbye no thank you. I was embarrassed in front of my lithuanian friends.... Sad cause when visiting klaipeda always used to go there for national lithuanian food. Probably will...
Read moreWe always make a point to have a meal here whenever we visit this city. Unfortunately, this time was disappointing. While the waitress who served us and the food itself were good, the start of our visit was very unpleasant.
We were traveling as a large family – 8 adults and 7 children – so we planned our weekend well in advance and made a reservation 2.5 weeks before our visit via email. I never received a confirmation, so three days before our trip I called to double-check. The hostess assured me that everything was fine and our reservation had been accepted.
However, upon arrival, no one knew anything about our booking, and the restaurant was full. Instead of addressing their mistake in a friendly and accommodating manner, the “manager” (as she introduced herself) was extremely rude and unprofessional. Being in the hospitality industry ourselves, we know very well that such situations can be resolved – at the very least with respect. But her response was simply: “We don’t have your reservation and we don’t have a table for you. Goodbye.”
After what I assume was a phone call to upper management, she reluctantly started rearranging free tables – all while keeping an annoyed and unfriendly expression on her face.
One thing is clear: this place should seriously reconsider the suitability of certain staff members for their positions. A very...
Read moreTonight Our group of 10 travelers from 5 countries looked for typical Lithuanian Food. We asssured with the person who seated us that we could pay with separate checks. Our Latvian your guide spoke to her in Russian. We enjoyed a great meal of forest mushroom soups in black bread bowl, potato pancakes stuffed with meat. Pork with sauerkraut and pickles, beet root soup, beet soup. I ordered bacon which meant pork bellies well prepared with beet root salad and sayrkraur with a delicious pickle. For drinks we chose red wines, local beer, sea thirn berry tea , and lots of water served with crsnberries and mint infusión. Huge bowls of ice cream found their way to our dessert palate Great traditional decor. The problem ocurred when the servers told us that we could not have separate checks. Four staff stood around with negative attitudes. Unfortunately this presented a problem for our group. Not recommended for a group of international travelers who want to support local economy and experience the local people and customs. The rudest people we have encountered in our 6 week tour of Scandinavia...
