First off: this is definitely budget accommodation with its kinks and hangups. Check-in is a little messy with whatsapping and fairly informal. The shower drain smells because it's very basic (a hole) and get ready to be woken up by the local muezzin - but yes this is the culture here so there's nothing to complain.
