Last few days I went to Miri alone for work and my company help me booked for this Dragon Inn. It has a very strategic location as it is surrounding with the shopping mall, food shop and also the office area. ||||Right to the hotel, a walking distance of 2 mins has a kopitian (food shop) famous with "yu hua" (in mandarin) noodles, which is a kind of fish produce like fish ball but in pieces. Every morning is crowed by "eater". At the right hand area, there are shopping malls Imperial Mall and Boulevard Shopping Mall, while in front of the hotel also has 1 more shopping mall (forgot the name), all are walking distance.||||My office is just opposite the my hotel, with a working distance of 5 to 7mins. At the office there, consist of many banks, which easier us to withdraw or make banking transaction. Behind the office, there are few food shop as well.||||For the hotel, although it is not nice looking from outside, it is nice and new looking from inside. I am staying alone for 2 night over there, but maybe it is off peak period, i am given a double room with a king size bed. The room is very big and comfortable, there is TV, heater, electrical kettle, fridge in the room. I also requested hair dryer with no deposit require. ||||The inn has 3 floors, all are covered by free wifi and the connection is quite good (as i still can download drama to watch after my office hour). The room also has good security as the room card is to be renew everyday after 12noon. Although this could be a bit troublesome, it is very safe as you no need to worry the last occupier come back and enter your room as if he pretend has lost the card. The receptionists are very nice, as my last day i requested to extend my checkout time, they allowed me to do so without additional charges as there is no customer occupying the room after me.||||After talking all the good thing, now should also talk about the negative things.||As this is an inn, no breakfast is provided and the inn does not have any lift, but you might request for help if you have lots of things to carry. 1 of my colleague staying there before had complaint that the room was very noisy of the washing machine sound at night, but for me i didnt face this problem, maybe due to the room location. Miri town at the night is very quite, my Miri colleague advice me not to go out alone at night. Miri town are consider as commercial place (offices), the residential area are far from there. That's why there might be a problem of seeking for food at night as most of the kopitian only open for breakfast and lunch and mostly closed at 6:00pm (maybe due to Malay fasting). I have to walking very far away to find a chinese shop, if you are alright with the Malay food, nearby have some...
Read moreAs we did not pre-book a hotel in Miri, we looked for a place to stay when we arrived. We checked out quite a few places in the city centre of Miri and found out, that the hotels were either nice and expensive (starting from around 150 Rm per night) or ugly and not so expensive (80-110 Rm per night). ||||Luckily, we met some locals that gave us the tip to try out the Dragon Inn, which is a little hidden in a side street of the main street running between the Mega Hotel and the Imperial Mall. The Dragon Inn was brand new at the point of time of our stay and well designed. All the rooms have aircon the wifi is for free. The standard room we stayed in was a bit small, but nice and clean. Also, the bed was really comfy. Room rate for a standard room is 90 Rm (no breakfast as the hotel does not have a restaurant), which is good value for money as we believe. ||||The location of the hotel is very good: right in the very city centre and only a few hundred meters away from the Imperial Mall. ||||If we came to Miri again, we would definitely stay in the...
Read moreLocation was good, close to places where you can eat and a supermarket. The staff in the hotel were friendly and wanting to help with queries / issues. The aircon worked well but the bedding was old, the beds mattress was very uncomfortable with springs digging in when laying in bed and the toilet had a crack in it so in the night we could smell strongly the toilet smell which disturbed our sleeps. The staff offered to change our room but the other room was more run down than the one we were in so we decided to stay out for...
