It’s great to see that there’s a Handicraft Centre to showcase the amazing work produced by local artists and craft folks! It would be great to have more stalls/shops with a variety of different products. Nonetheless, this is still a great stop for tourists to check out what’s on offer. The shop owners are also generally quite friendly and they know a lot about the products/culture so don’t be shy! There is also a food/drinks area in the far corner but I didn’t have time to check it out.

Tip: Honestly, I have no idea how the prices/quality compare to those found elsewhere, so if you are looking for specific items and have time to spare then do shop around. Also, it is acceptable to bargain a bit but be polite and don’t be too pushy. If you’re not happy with the price, you can always politely decline and walk away. Great Place to Shop Local Crafts. We absolutely love the small shops inside this complex and the local arts and crafts they showcase. The place is located in a new building in the centre of Miri. Parking is available in front of the shopping complex. Inside there are 15-20 small shops each showcasing Sarawakian arts and crafts. This is a great place to shop for souvenirs, local gifts and very unique items. The prices are very moderate and each purchase supports local artisans to become economically self sufficient and helps to preserve their heritage and culture for generations to come. A good place to go to for checking out local indigineous handicrafts like bags, clothes, cultural attire, souvenirs and more. Currently about 10 shops are opened in the handicraft center. Each store that I visited, the owners were friendly and helpful with explaining the origin and the information regarding many of the items. The handwoven bags and clothing are really special.
