Smashed Burger — Restaurant in Borneo

Chicken tenders. Crispy outside, tender inside. Good portion for sharing. Pricewise, RM13 is slightly above typical “snack” range in Miri, but the quality crunch makes it fair.

Double Zinger burger. For only RM10, you’re getting two crispy chicken patties stacked high. This is excellent value compared to fast food chains .Easily the best bang for buck item here.

Fish n Chips. Golden battered fish fillet with fries and slaw. At RM15, it sits at the same price point as many kopitiam Western sets. Considering portion size and freshness, it’s reasonably priced, though not a standout bargain.

Chicken Chop. Classic Western cafe pricing. The portion is decent for the price, but you can find similar chicken chop sets in Miri between RM12–RM18. Value is fair, depending on how generous the serving actually is.

Smashed Burger. This is their namesake dish and at RM8, it’s a steal. A handmade smashed patty burger for under RM10 is competitive compared to fast-food chains. Simple, but very wallet-friendly.

Set B Single ayam. Essentially a fried chicken set with sides. Price under RM9 is fair for a full plate meal definitely good value.

Beef Fries. Fries topped with beef. RM10 feels a bit steep unless portion is generous, since plain fries usually run RM5–7 in town. This is more of a “premium snack” item.

Overall Rating (Food + Price): ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) Smashed Burger keeps prices accessible, especially for their burgers. Some sides are a little on the higher side, but the portions and crisp execution make the bill...

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience in the hopes that it encourages improvement in customer service standards.

I arrived at this establishment around 11 a.m., expecting to enjoy a meal in what appeared to be a decently reviewed venue. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite being the only customer present at the time, I was completely ignored. There were staff members visible, yet not a single one approached me to offer a menu, take my order, or even acknowledge my presence.

There was no signage or verbal communication to indicate that they were not ready to serve customers at that hour. I understand if the kitchen was not yet open or if there were internal preparations underway but the professional and courteous thing to do would have been to inform me of the situation. Instead, I was left sitting at the table for several minutes, feeling like an inconvenience rather than a guest.

In the food and beverage industry, customer service is just as important as the quality of the food. A simple greeting or a brief explanation would have sufficed, but the complete lack of acknowledgment made it clear that customer care is not a priority here.

Ultimately, I chose to leave and take my business to another restaurant. The one that knows how to appreciate and value its customers. Based on this experience, I am giving a 1-star rating. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service...
