Kingwood Boutique Hotel Miri is probably one of the best, if not best boutique hotel in the city. The quality of its rooms and available facilities are above par in comparison to its peers and some of the bigger hotels such as Imperial Palace and Meritz that aren't far away.
It's located in a commercial shop-lot district facing the main street, taller than any of the immediate buildings in its vicinity, making it easy to notice.
Funnily, the main entrance to the hotel sits on the side alley/street instead of the main street which is the entrance to it's cafe/restaurant. The lobby is small but comfortably fitted with a 'lounge-like' feel.
As with generally modern/newer hotels, rooms are accessed by card keys and the rooms impress for a boutique hotel in a downtown area. Bedding, furniture, interior and bathrooms sport a fairly modern design that are more relaxing somewhat less gaudy than what you would find from the top-tier independent hotels in East Malaysia.
For a boutique hotel, it surprisingly hosts a cafe/restaurant, which competes with the rest of the eateries along the same row. Finding food nearby is not a problem. Several coffee shops line up along the same row as Kingwood, less than fifty meters away with all offering local favourites such as Mi Kolo and the like.
As of August 2017, bookings and payments can be made on its own website with room rates ranging from MYR 130-210 for standard rooms and from MYR 410-505 for more luxurious and spacious fittings.
For its price range, Kingwood easily beats out most all of its boutique hotel peers on quality alone and competitive pricing. It also stands as a strong competitor against local giants, losing out only on its smaller room inventory. It's a choice hotel for both holiday and business travellers alike if you...
Read moreIt is a hotel with a unique yet warmly welcoming design, we know it's a 4-star boutique hotel but when you walk into the hotel lobby, it feels like 5-star. What makes it different is the very nice fragrance that fills up the whole lobby and the welcoming drink that simply combines so well with the fragrance. That experience really contributed to the overall ambience of the hotel, me and my wife feels so good after a very hot and humid day outside. May I know where did you get the fragrance? Is it available for sale at your hotel? Is this a type of signature fragrance of your hotel brand? I think you have Kingwood branch hotels also elsewhere in East Malaysia, do they also smell as good? That will certainly be a plus point for your loyal customers if your hotel chain smells just as good as this one. Other than the amazingly wonderful fragrance, we were also impressed with the hotel concept and design, and again we must say that the use of the correct fragrance really brings out the overall experience of the hotel which combines very well with the decor and the design. Nothing to complain about except that the movable shower head cannot be adjusted in a way that it doesn't fall off, this became quite annoying when taking our bath, the other thing is the wardrobe door, it was creaking very loud and badly, hope you guys can fix that up. Oh, the other thing is, our room #311 is opposite the service room so there was very loud walkie-talkie noise in the early mornings, not sure how you can fix this? We had requested for a room away from the lift lobby so that we won't get noisy people passing by our door all the time but we got this instead and it was just as noisy or even more so...... Anyway, overall experience is still...
Read moreThis is by far the best among other Kingwood Hotel in Sarawak. I've always travelled in Sarawak. This hotel is definitely something to remember as days goes by. As I walk into the hotel, the concierge welcomes me with smile. Soon they bring a welcome drinks with wet towel to cool me off since it was hot outside and this is the first time I've experienced in Sarawak. Not to brag but they did a good job here! Next, I'm amazed with their interior decor. Really catch my attention and it is blend with awesome ambience. This hotel is located in the heart of Miri City Center. 24 Hour convenience store such as 7Eleven is nearby. Shopping mall like Permaisuri Imperial is just a walking distance. Even Bintang Megamall is not so far. Public transportation is great and you can use Grab services and Taxi as well. Food delivery rider such as Foodpanda and Grabfood is available to the hotel. I stayed in the Queen's Room which has cost me around RM168 per night inclusive of Breakfast and daily laundry for 5 pcs of clothes. The room that I've stayed not that big but it is enough for two person with en-suite bathroom and toilet. Wardrobe is spacious and they provide a kettle and iron with ironboard as well. There is a LCD TV but as usual with limited channel. I do hope that they provide with smart tv with smart view function so at least the guest can watch Netflix or Youtube via TV. The restaurant is amazing. I feel like having a meal in fine dining restaurant. Their Ayam Percik with Rice is something that worth to try. Other restaurant and foodstalls also nearby for you to try. Pharmacy and clinic are nearby. I really hope that this hotel will continue their great service and be among the top choices for travellers!...
