Uptown Hotel — Hotel in Borneo

The rooms are decent and comfortable and the staff were all very courteous and nice. We had to pay a Rm100 safety deposit as well upon arrival. Location is pretty good and central as well. Close to the pier. They have a coway water dispenser just outside our room, and a spin machine to dry swimsuits. But we had several hiccups during our stay. The lift malfunctioned, and we were trapped inside when we were trying to check in to our room. It took about 30mins before a technician was able to come and free us, but it still got hot and stuffy inside the lift. At least it was a glass lift so it wasn't so claustrophobic, and people could see that we had been trapped. The room was quite noisy due to it's location, but also there were dogs barking outside and cats fighting at night. Breakfast was disappointing. We went down at 8am, and they did not have anything available that we wanted to eat. No rice or noodles, only porridge. So we ended up walking somewhere else to...

Very clean and comfortable hotel, practical design toilet, tumb up to water dispenser just near the lift, love the bed and pillow especially so comfortable. I stayed there 5days 4night with 3days out snorkelling tour. sleeping is very important for my everyday activities, Appreciated staff prompt to my enquiry. If you wakes up early like 6am you get to see daily life of semporna people selling their home grown veg and fruits by the divider and side of road, pretty interesting. walking toward jetty n restaurants are near too. By the time i booked this hotel, the price is just slightly higher than the average budget hotel, so at first i wasn’t put high expectations of this hotel..But when ive arrived here, it was a very nice hotel to stay, interiors are well maintained, the bedroom is clean & complete with the all necessities, the mattress is comfy, spacious (family room) , foods are great, owner & staff are friendly and the location is very strategic, walking distance to jetty, market & all..
