I’m truly amazed by how incredible this team is, everyone was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely warm. I made the booking via WhatsApp with MJ, and after enquiring with a few other places, I chose them because they provided the clearest details and transparent pricing for everything. There were six of us, and we booked a 2-day island-hopping trip. A day before, my husband decided he wanted to dive, and they were so accommodating in helping to arrange it for him. In the morning, there was about an hour’s waiting time as they had to get clearance with Sabah Park with our information. It’s understandable since it varies daily, so it’s always better to arrive early. They provided towels, coffee, tea, fruits, unlimited water, and a delicious lunch served with such care. On the boat, there were several assistants to help you get in and out of the water safely, which was such a thoughtful touch. This was hands-down the best snorkeling experience I’ve ever had. In other places, the boat usually drops you off, and you’re left to swim around on your own, searching for marine life and corals. But here, we had a guide named Ben, such a funny and friendly guy. He brought two floating rings for those who couldn’t swim and guided us around, pointing out all the amazing finds underwater. We had so much fun! By the third snorkeling session, we were all exhausted and sunburned, so be prepared if you’re not used to long days in the sun. They had sunscreen on, but we still ended up sunburned especially on our backsides while sitting on the boat (not sure how that even happened!). It was heartbreaking to see the amount of rubbish scattered around and boats deploying anchors on the coral. When the anchors were retrieved, they sometimes pulled up corals with them. I have no words to express how sad this was, and honestly, I don’t know how to stop it, it’s such a complex issue that feels overwhelming to address as someone from across the globe. That said, I would absolutely recommend this team to my friends. They were such a pleasure to deal with, and everything was so well-organized. Not to forget, we visited during the low season (January 24–25). It was raining when we arrived, but the sun eventually came out, and we were lucky to have bright, sunny weather. Of course, visibility might be even better during peak season. Thank you again for such a memorable experience!

I loved my experience at blue reef! My friend & I signed up for an open water course here as it was much more affordable than the other diving schools. We booked their accommodation as well which is right above their office. The front desk staff were awesome and friendly. Our diving instructor (Jab) was amazing too and reassured us every step of the way when we were really nervous about the course. The crew (a diving assistant came along with us) brought watermelons, coffee onto the boat to enjoy during our rest times / end of the day trip back to semporna from mabul island. For accommodation, it is simple but very functional (better than a very nice hotel with lacking functionalities). Water pressure in the bathroom was strong, water heater worked perfectly and ammenities provided. Bathroom was clean too. The only downside is that the office / front gate closes early around 6/7pm so you need to go through a back gate which can be challenging, but we got used to it in the end so anyone should be able to as well!

We did the snorkeling trip to Pom-Pom, Mataking and Timba-Timba. The whole trip seemed very disorganized and we had to wait a long time in the morning. The snorkeling was very nice and we saw lots of beautiful fish and corals. Unfortunately, underwater we also saw how our and other boats anchored directly in the coral reef and tore out a huge amount of corals. In other places, corals are laboriously cultivated and here they are pulled out with anchors. It is horrible to see that there is such a lack of awareness of the underwater life (especially at a diving school). The guides also simply accepted that other tourists took crabs in plastic bottles from the beach with them on the boat. Mataking and Timba-Timba are very dirty and crowded with day tourists who doesn‘t seem care. All in all, it was an experience, but rather a sad one.

We arrived in Semporna after a very long and tiring trip, and off we went asking around to get an understanding of available options for accomodation and diving. We were soon overwhelmed and disoriented by the number of operators, the wide range of price tags applied, and the language barrier coming uop most of the times to complicate things further. We were then lucky enough to stumble upon Semporna Blue Reef, where a bright smile, warm and gentle manners, patient and clear explanations and excellent english skills welcomed us and provided us with the comprehensive and unbiased general information about locally available options that we needed. The super friendly young lady that welcomed us, as well as the rest of the family, got literally out of their way to help and assist us and provided support and advice even about some of the competitors that we might have wantedto check out based on our specific needs prior to making any choice. These folks are truly professional, impressively honest and genuinely friendly and helpful, which is most appreciated and commendable. We unfortunately did not end up going with one of their trips due to last minute arrangements, but I would recommend their outstanding services to anyone interested in what the Semporna archipelago has to offer. If that is you, then do yourself a favor and drop by to say hello. Thanks a lot, and keep up the...
