Our stay at PP Hotel by Moxy in Penang was far from satisfying.
From the start, we faced issues with the front office staff, who insisted on charging us a 10 MYR tax even though it was already paid via Agoda and clearly stated in our booking. We did pay the separate 2 MYR city tax without issue, but this unnecessary confusion set the tone for our stay. Additionally, our request for an early check-in was directly denied without any effort to accommodate us.
The room itself was disappointing. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, and the towels provided were not clean. The bathroom had only a single bottle of shower gel, no soap for the basin, and the electric kettle in the room was dirty. The air conditioning took a very long time to cool the room, making it uncomfortable initially.
Sound insulation was terrible—we could hear people talking loudly and clearly from outside the room. Adding to the inconvenience, the hotel only provided one key card, which was highly impractical for two guests.
Basic amenities were also lacking—there were no complimentary mineral water bottles, and guests were expected to refill a jug themselves from a water dispenser near the lift. While there is a massage center nearby for relaxation, the surrounding area lacks convenience stores, which would have been helpful.
Overall, the experience was marred by poor service, cleanliness issues, and insufficient amenities. PP Hotel by Moxy needs significant improvements to meet even basic...

The room itself left much to be desired. The bed was extremely firm and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Cleanliness was clearly an issue—towels provided were stained, and the bathroom was poorly stocked, with just a single bottle of shower gel and no soap for the sink. Adding to the discomfort, the air conditioning unit was slow to cool the room, leaving it uncomfortably warm for an extended period. Additionally, there was no electric kettle in the room, and guests were required to share one located in a common area, which was inconvenient.
Noise insulation was another major issue. We could clearly hear conversations and other noises from the hallway, which made it impossible to relax. Furthermore, the hotel provided only one key card for two guests, which was both impractical and inconvenient.
The lack of basic amenities was also disappointing. No complimentary bottled water was provided; instead, guests were expected to refill a jug at a water dispenser near the lift. While there is a massage center nearby, the surrounding area lacks convenience stores or dining options, adding to the inconvenience.
Overall, our experience at PP Hotel by Moxy in Penang was far from pleasant. With subpar cleanliness, poor room conditions, and insufficient amenities, the property needs serious improvements to meet even basic expectations. We would not recommend this hotel to...

We have been traveling all around asia for the last 8 months and this is the WORST hotel we have stayed in.
Unfortunately we had to stay longer than expected as I fell unwell and had to go to hospital so we stayed in 2 different rooms and they were both terrible.
The rooms were extremley filthy, black/dark mould in the bathrooms. The floors were sticky The room also smelt very musky and of cigarette Beds were also dirty, pillows were stained, bed sheets were stained. We lifted the sheets and saw peoples hair was under the bedding, Wifi hardly worked Aircon did not work, it was cooler outside than inside The tray in the room with complimentary coffee and cups was also filthy, cups were sticky and not properly cleaned Staff were not friendly or welcoming, basically just ignore you when you are coming and going. Even upon check out, not a single word was exchanged.
We ended up moving to a 4 star hotel for only a few extra dollars that was a million times better. DO NOT make the mistake of booking this hotel, you can find way better for a...
