I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn and I am compelled to express my absolute satisfaction with the exemplary experience I had.
From the moment I walked through the front doors, I was greeted by the heartwarming hospitality of the Holiday Inn team. Throughout my stay, the team demonstrated an extraordinary level of customer service, anticipating and catering to my every need. Their attention to detail, genuine warmth and dedication to service added a personal touch that truly sets them apart.
The quality of the room surpassed all expectations. The décor had an inviting, modern flair, and it was evident that meticulous thought was put into the design. The room was impeccably clean and well-maintained, with a comfortable bed that provided a wonderful night's rest. The amenities were well-appointed and generous, making the space feel like a home away from home. It was clear that Holiday Inn's commitment to quality and comfort extends to every facet of their guest rooms.
In terms of my overall stay, I must say that the Holiday Inn has refined hospitality to an art. From the excellent customer service, to the top-notch room quality, to the little touches that enhanced my stay, each element was carefully crafted to create a memorable guest experience.

Read moreI recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Johor Bahru for four nights in May and had a pleasant experience overall. One of the highlights of my stay was the reception staff who were incredibly kind and friendly. They made me feel welcomed and provided excellent service. I was so impressed that I asked for their names, and I would like to give a special shoutout to Amnan, the Duty Manager, and Mr. Vincent, the Assistant Room Division Manager. They truly deserve top marks for their cool and energetic approach to customer service.
To my surprise, I also had the pleasure of meeting Miss Sumitha Sharlet Andy during my stay. It was a delightful experience to be warmly greeted by someone unexpected and it made my stay even more enjoyable.
The rooms at the hotel were comfortable, although I found the bed to be a bit small for my dad bod. It was a queen size bed instead of a king size bed, which would have been more spacious. The water pressure in the shower and the bum gun (shatafa or bidet sprayer) was a bit low, but it was still functional.
One thing that stood out was the size of the shower, which was absolutely huge. It was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a man ten times my size, a veritable giant. I was quite impressed with this feature.
I appreciated the daily supply of bottled water and the complimentary breakfast offered at the hotel. Although I didn't make full use of the breakfast due to my personal preference for skipping breakfast, it was a nice gesture and added value to my stay.
The availability of sufficient plugs in the bedroom to power my devices was a convenient aspect. It ensured that I could easily charge my gadgets without any hassle.
My only regret is not taking an epic selfie in the lobby. I guess I'll have to plan another visit to the hotel to capture that memorable moment.
As a pro tip, I would like to mention that the towels are located inside the shower stall behind the door. It took me a while to find them, so this information might be useful for future guests.
Overall, my experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Johor Bahru was positive. The friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and convenient location near the Singapore border made it a great choice for my stay. I would consider returning...

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express JB recently, and while there were some positives, the overall experience left much to be desired.
We checked in late at night, and there was only one person at the counter. This resulted in a 15-minute wait just to get our room keys. Unfortunately, the key card didn’t work with the lift, so we had to go back to the concierge, which meant more waiting as the staff were busy handling checkouts.
When we finally got to our room, we realized there were no towels. I called the room phone several times, but no one answered. After trying again about 15 minutes later, someone finally picked up and said they would notify housekeeping. We waited for almost 45 minutes, but no one came. I eventually had to go down to the concierge myself, and while the staff assured us towels would be sent up, it was quite frustrating. Kudos to the concierge staff who later brought the towels and water bottles and even helped fix the WiFi issue for us.
Speaking of WiFi—this was a huge disappointment. For a business hotel, the connection was extremely unreliable and intermittent. I needed to get work done, but sending emails became a nightmare. On top of that, the water from the tap had a weird smell, and I even got bitten by a mosquito in the room.
Breakfast was another low point. The area was overcrowded, making it hard to find a seat. The coffee machine was poorly maintained—staff were standing around chatting while the machine sat neglected, with depleted coffee beans and full grounds. Many of the food options were cold and unappetizing. The only redeeming item was the fried beehoon. Everything else (nasi lemak, vegetables, hard-boiled and scrambled eggs) looked and tasted unpleasant.
On the positive side, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful despite the hiccups. It’s clear they’re trying, but the operational issues, especially with basic amenities and service, really dragged the experience down.
I wouldn’t come back again and wouldn’t recommend anyone...
