Goldy Punjabi Restaurant in Johor Baharu exceeded all expectations! From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere exuded warmth and charm. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.
It's always a special touch when the owner takes the time to personally interact with customers. Mr. Goldy is truly dedicated to providing a great dining experience to customers.
Now, let's talk about the food. Each dish was a masterpiece in its own right. The Pav Bhaji was a burst of flavors, perfectly balanced and oh-so-satisfying. The Paneer Masala was rich and creamy, with succulent cubes of paneer that melted in the mouth. The Garlic Naan was the ideal accompaniment, fluffy and aromatic.
To end the meal on a sweet note, we tried the Rasmalai. It was a divine finale, with the delicate saffron-infused milk balls soaking up the creamy goodness. And let's not forget the Veg Manchurian, a delightful blend of flavors and textures.
The attention to detail in every dish was evident, and it's clear that the chefs at Goldy take immense pride in their craft. The flavors were authentic, and we left with happy hearts and satisfied palates.

Read moreTheir food has always been good — full credit to the chef — but the service is consistently terrible, and it’s only getting worse. I used to be a regular customer and have even referred many people here, but the way the staff treats customers is completely unacceptable.
They are severely understaffed and, worse, incredibly rude. It’s become normal to wait 30–40 minutes for even a basic order. On my recent visit, we ordered chole bhature, only to be told after 30 minutes that they didn’t have enough flour and it would take even longer. If they were short on ingredients, the order should’ve never been accepted. Instead of offering any apology or update, the staff member was dismissive and continued serving others with complete disregard.
There was no water, no cutlery — and yet I chose to be patient, ate with my hands, and still offered an extra tip, trying to be supportive on what seemed like a tough day for them.
But here’s the bottom line: good food alone can’t compensate for bad attitude. The way a customer is treated is non-negotiable, and that’s where they’re failing miserably.
They need to seriously rethink how they operate before they lose more loyal customers. I genuinely hope they turn things around — for their own...
Read moreMy personal experience having lunch at this restaurant echoes that of Rose Chas. Salty dum, mutton briyani with almost zero spices infused in it during the actual, cooking process. When the waiter served me a plain, dry briyani with no gravy to go along with it, I instinctively told myself, "the people who run this restaurant are complete amateurs who shouldn't be in business at all." They're even stingy with the ice served with my soda. It was half a handful of ice thrown into a small glass. The overall feeling you'd get when you eat at this restaurant is that the owner is definitely stingy on many fronts. They're doing their best to maximize profits and at the same time doing the least possible in terms of providing both great food and an excellent service. Perhaps in JB you can get away with such low standards. If you were to remain with these low standards in SG and KL however, it won't be long before your restaurant would be boycotted by experienced diners. Thanks a lot for the unforgettable experience. I won't be coming again to your...
