Pros -Room is exactly as pictured online, very clean, welcoming cozy, quiet, calm, very tastefully done up, lotsa green! -Ventilation - windows can be opened and there was a powerful fan in our room which means air could circulate. -mattress is better than 5star hotels, high quality very comfortable! The 'green chair' pictured in most rooms is good support -Location is VERY GOOD 2mins from Restaurant Yin Fai Kee so we could eat at even late hours. Walk to Chang Keong Dim Sum, Cafe Back-to-Begin, Pustaka Sufes Bookshop, KFC Cockman, The Store and various bus stops -No road noise (the only trouble we had were with another guest which was perhaps venting anger kept slamming the door multiple times over 2 days, not of Grayhaus' doing.) -No trouble with WIFI at all, easy to connect and stayed connected thru our entire 4 days stay. -Check in (referring to photo with arrow pointing to gate/door) that is ground floor, so basically you are "in" after the initial step. Go lvl 1 or 2 for subsequent steps.. Building has big name "Grayhaus" but Google is unreliable and outdated hence will not reflect name of building (signage to be seen only if in person, pity).
Deluxe Twin Room is EXTREMELY popular (went to grab my cc 2mins later it was booked up) so once confirmed on dates JUST BOOK and pay for this room; Deluxe Twin's bathroom has window compared to the one we had which was dark and creepy so act quickly for Twin!
Con -Checking in felt like a mini version of 'escape room' "do this, do that, look out for this ...locate that" although in fairness for the price+location+cleanliness ..thats fair. -agree with another guest how the towels are stinky (yes I did look Housekeeping in the eye and told him directly so it wasnt like we were cowardly and skirted addressing the issue with the staff who was directly responsible.) Also, one roach sighted (crept from corridor under main door into room we...
Read moreThe best-value hotel we stayed in Malaysia, period.
The location is super central and walkable (1 km north of the Sri Maju Bus station, 700 m west of the Ipoh Parade Shopping Mall).
Our family room is impressively spacious and very clean (including the bedding and towels), with a good air-con and fan. There is a large window for natural light. The minor traffic noises didn't bother us as sound sleepers. Our big en-suite bathroom has an electric shower and toiletries were provided.
The service was excellent - the owner messaged via WhatsApp detailed instructions for self-check-in before we arrived, and reminded us of the self-check-out procedures the night before our departure. There was no lift at the Inn, but we didn't feel too challenging to get to our rooms two floors up. Also, the staff at the front desk very kindly helped my mom carry her cabin luggage upstairs. The customer service was also available on WhatsApp until late.
We really enjoyed our stay there, and will definitely use it again if we travel back to...
Read moreI truly wish I could give this place zero stars. Unfortunately, the experience was very different from what the pictures suggested. The inn felt quite dingy, the mattress was placed directly on the floor, and we noticed lizards scurrying about. The smell inside the room was also very suffocating, which made it impossible for my family to even consider staying overnight. Also the rooftop place is situated in the attic, you have to use an external stairs to go to the room.
We took one look at the room and decided it wasn’t right for us. I wouldn’t want others to go through the same, so just a heads up for fellow travelers. For a similar price, I’d recommend D-Eastern Hotel — it’s brighter, cleaner, and comfortably accommodates four guests. We paid RM 140 for this place, and it was this bad. Whereas the hotel we stayed at only came up to RM 170.
The owner was unwilling to settle our claims, but honestly, I don’t mind the money being lost as much as I couldn’t imagine my family...
