Check in was easy. They offer WhatsApp texting for any communication. Friendli-ish staff (our flight got in at night, the front desk receptionist wasn’t all smiles at that time but helpful nonetheless). We got a twin deluxe room for a night on our way to Redang Island. The room was very tight but fit 2 single beds and a small walkway between them, however there was barely any room to fit a larger suitcase when opened so we had to prop it up on the small luggage rack and push it against the room door. Upon a cursory look, the room looked modern, fine and clean.
Unfortunately, while settling in, there were several important details we could not overlook: despite both bed sheets smelling fresh, there were several faint black marks on them. And some yellow crumbs (like from fried food) under the decorative liner on the bed. the floor was not well cleaned and had some dark sticky looking stains (we opted to keep our flip-flops on in the room). lime & soap scum stains on the shower stall walls and some mildew on the grouting, water heater piping and hair dryer cord/cable. several random strands of hair on the fresh sheets and in the bathroom sink. thin walls, we could hear our neighbor’s cell phone ringing several times, people faintly chatting, a shower being run, a kid crying their lungs out... all after 12:30am (bring ear plugs with you, this was the worst part for me). people banging on room doors asking to be let in. our room phone ringing LOUD waking us up randomly at 6AM. kids running in the hallway while their parents check out of their room at 7am and people calling loudly to one another there. no window in our room and neither was there any notation about it anywhere on our booking notifications nor during check in (I had a claustrophobic companion).
Some things to note: despite them charging you in full upon check-in, they still impose a RM100 CASH deposit which is fully refundable upon check out. We had no problems with that. there is a local convenience shop right outside the hotel. the local cafe adjoining the hotel has decent food.
To be fair there were good things as well: complementary bottled waters. small bag rack. wifi works decently. water boiler and powdered coffee/tea sachets. comfortable bed with a mattress topper. Air conditioning works well. Keyfobs for room doors. Small flat-screen TV with a surprising number of channels. I was watching BBC Earth if that tells you anything.
Suggestions for the management & housekeeping team: The facilities are actually quite decent, but cleanliness is wanting. If you can be more thorough cleaning the rooms (especially the floors) and hallways and find a way to sound proof the rooms more, your hotel will probably start getting amazing reviews.
All in all, cheaper is not better. If you’re on a budget and don’t mind paper thin walls then this is so-so. If you don’t mind spending USD$10-20 more... try...
Read moreI booked a twin superior no window. If you come here only for transit or just to have a quick stop, this is a good choice for you. Otherwise, go look for another hotel.
The room is NOT accommodative for two people, very limited space. The room that I got has mold on the walls and I got flu after my trip in there. What makes me irritated was that the housekeeper which I believed to be a foreign worker, decided to clean our room so early around 7:48am and did not even make sure no people inside before going in. He just knocked 1 time and suddenly entered our room using their spare key. Good thing we locked using the door latch. When he realized I was there he just proceeded to say sorry3! Like hell I would accept that. There are people still taking showers and luckily I was sitting on my bed. It’s a breach of privacy to enter guest’s room like that j suites. You need to knock 3 times before going in to ensure there are no people inside only then you proceed to make up room. But after that incident, when we come back in the evening, our room is not cleaned at all. Seriously the worst ugh.
Another thing, I was using their hairdryer inside the toilet and the electricity doesn’t seem to supply enough cuz it’s shutting down suddenly. And you know what? I thought maybe there was a burn inside the hairdryer so I was trying to sniff and the smell of an armpit was lingered inside of it ugh it was disgusting. I stopped using it and proceeded to use another one. The same thing occurred, the electricity seems to be on and off.
The room is also equipped with mini iron and board but it’s not functioning. So the receptionist told there was a large one outside of the room which is near the elevator. That’s a good thing. The question is, what’s the purpose you put the mini iron and board if you can’t use it right? Better just take it out of the room cuz it’s a waste of space.
Overall, it’s a good choice of stay if you’re tight on budget and are looking for a quick place to sleep. Otherwise, better look for another place if you’re looking for a...
Read moreA very disappointing experience: The hotel is run-down; there is a lingering mouldy smell in the reception area, the lift and corridors due to lack of regular airing. The roomsize was grossly overstated in hotel booking description 20 sqm instead of 30 sqm), had no shelves nor a cupboard for clothes. The carpet and bathroom cabinet were dusty and there were cobwebs in various corners of the ceiling, all of which was only cleaned after I made the hotel staff aware of it. Also, there is a very petty policy about complimentary coffee/teabags that were only provided when asked specifically at reception. With no automatic daily top-up in the room. The same goes with the daily tidying up of room, which again will only be done upon explicit request each morning - something we were willfully never made aware of! Furthermore, there was poor and unstable internet connection. The staff is badly trained and argumentative, always wanting to have the last word and making you feel like we are in the wrong. To make matters worse, the hotel actually charged us more than what its peers and better in town would have charged. I would definitely not consider recommending this place to anyone, neither Malaysian...
