Hotel Rio Mar — Hotel in Jalisco

Worst experience during my time in Puerto Vallarta. I booked a room (online--do not recommend in the future) which was not available/ready when I arrived (the room should have never shown as being able to reserve since it was technically not available). I called customer support for the online company which I had reserved and they claimed to have my back and understood that there were a multitude of problems with this reservation and situation. The support agent told me I would not pay for the reservation given ALL the issues which took place. I am STILL waiting for a refund. The owners and folks at this establishment are dishonest and continue to avoid taking care of this problem by hanging up the phone on the agency working on my behalf to recoup my money. This "business"/hotel REFUSES to return phone calls, emails, and my money back to me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and DISHONEST people here! If I could give 0 out of 5 stars I would but this would now allow me to do so. AVOID this place at all costs!

Addendum/Response (03/2025) to "owner's" very delayed comments: Your attention or acknowledgement to any of this has been complete avoidance for over 1 year. How can you know anything that even took place with your hands-off approach, again for over a whole entire year?! I did check in rather late and the point is, is that if that room was not ready, then it should NOT have been available to book at all. I made the reservation earlier than 1am (possibly late the night of), unfortunately I was not able to arrive until the time I did. Being over 1 year ago, some of the details are not as crisp since you ignored me from the very beginning and the "guy" in charge of the place in the moment was more concerned about his personal dealings than a paying guest trying to check in to the hotel. Off duty or not, the hotel had signage which indicated someone was reachable by calling a few different numbers shown. I would say checking in late (does not matter what time actually) is a reason to contact someone! After all, I paid to put my stuff there and literally get maybe 1 to a few hours of sleep before departing. All the while this was happening the "owner" was nowhere to be found or reached. I NEVER got any refund from booking.com either----so, if they got money back from this situation then I am not sure who is most dishonest as of now. I do know that I will NEVER use booking.com nor your so-called establishment ever again. Recomendable este hotel. La verdad hagan caso a los que dicen las personas “no se dejen llevar por lo que ven en internet”. Busquen hoteles pequeños enfrente del malecón, sinceramente son lo mejores y los más accesibles, sin costos exagerados. Tuvimos un percance con nuestro vuelo, nuestro hotel 3 estrellas nos cobraban $2,000 pesos por quedarnos unas horas más. Y aquí es este hotel nos dieron la accesibilidad de quedarnos de 12pm a 8pm y el precio súper accesible y si nos guardaron las maletas. El único problema del hotel es el ruido excesivo durante toda la noche y madrugada, no puedes dormir, a las 8 am me despertó un ruido exagerado que parecía un taladro en la pared que nunca supe qué fue pero duró más de 10 minutos, si vas en plan de descanso no es el lugar indicado por qué no podrás dormir...
