My recent visit to L'Angolo di Napoli in Puerto Vallarta left me with mixed feelings. The restaurant, located in the heart of the city, offers a traditional Italian dining experience with a cash-only policy.
We opted for the 'Tutta Carne' pizza to share, cooked in a wood-fired grill. While the pizza was fairly tasty, it lacked the 'wow' factor that I had hoped for. The crust had a nice crispiness, and the toppings were fresh, but the overall flavor didn't leave a lasting impression.
Our waiter, however, was a highlight of the evening. Fairly friendly and fluent in English, he provided attentive service and was ready with recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy, offering a relaxed setting for a casual meal.
One unique aspect to be aware of is that L'Angolo di Napoli only accepts cash, so it's important to come prepared. This might be inconvenient for those who prefer card transactions.
While L'Angolo di Napoli is worth a try for its authentic Italian fare and friendly service, I personally feel that there are more culinary adventures to explore in Puerto Vallarta. The pizza, though decent, didn't leave a lasting impression, and for me, the lack of a 'wow' factor would likely deter me from revisiting. However, taste preferences vary, so if you're a fan of Italian cuisine, it might still be worth checking out. The gnocchi is possibly the best I've ever eaten in my life. Their pizza is done in a wood-fired pizza oven but it's never crispy enough. The highway right by the dining area can be expensive. Very attentive servers, decent prices.
L'Angolo has great pasta but not great pizza; in 2021 September, there was only outside seating.

L'Angolo has some of the best Italian food in Puerto Vallarta. They served us phenomenal gnocchi in an amazing meat sauce. I will think of this gnocchi every day until I get to go back to Italy and eat real Italian gnocchi again.
We also had good, fresh pizza - but I lived in Rome for a while, and I disagree with the one review saying it's better than the pizza in Italy. That's just a bizarre claim, lol.
Come for the pasta, but not the pizza, I say.
The ambience was just alright - it is a bunch of small outdoor tables, so not bad, but also not remarkable or terrible...
Read moreCome here for the pizza and maybe avoid the rest. The gnocchi is so-so and the salad barely had any arugula…And when we asked about it, our waiter dug around in the salad with a fork! (Note to staff: don’t dig in customers food 🙊.) He pointed out ONE piece of arugula, which would have been funny but it was so ridiculous! Then they brought us more arugula and charged us for it. This place COULD be excellent, but, sadly, they are a bit of a tourist trap. They may try to sell you in the specials (and the server will bring the large chalkboard over and explain ALL of them tediously, which was ANNOYING), but just go there for lunch for pizza. The featured Italian wine was good, but nearly doubled our bill with the added arugula. Oh! And they only take cash, and one can guess why (the Mexican tax man). We paid $84, with tip (20% because we almost always do, and the rest of the staff did a great job) for a meal that would have cost far less in Southern California for a much nicer atmosphere. Also, the parking is tricky. You’ll have...
