I have mixed feelings about this hotel but overall disappointing. My friend picked this place being its location and affordability. When we checked in seemed bit more hassle than it should have been along with two remotes, one for the tv and the other for the a/c unit. We then proceeded to our room on the elevator in which the display does not work to tell what floor your on. We then arrived in our room and rot settle in wanted to put on some tv to have some noise on. Hard time dealing with tv, the remote didn't seem to work and we managed to get it on but the remote only affected the volume. So I went back down to tell the front desk and he proceeded to hand me another remote. So I went back up and it controls the cable box, but only to find out the tv has a bad screen or something because it never came in clear and only in black and white. We also had no wifi while there. We had hard time logging on which I went downstairs again for this issue and had to get the wifi password which apparently there's a few channels in the hotel all with the same password but you have to log onto each one of them. Despite, our phones would log on but still say no internet. The room was very clean but its decor is very dated which nothing wrong with it but use some touch ups. The bed was decent but was sad that they provide no blanket on the bed only bed sheets to use, which was weird to me. The restroom was bit disappointing in the doors, shower and entrance were flimsy and ugly. We were going to eat upstairs but the place was packed, which we heard good things about it. This place has that old school Spanish style to it that if they leaned into would really set it off. The architecture and decor is beautiful. On the main floor is an open air terrace that looks like it had a huge water fountain area that looks like it hasn't been operational. It it was it would be fantastic. If they had this hotel up to its full potential, it would definitely set it apart from others in the area and they could charge more and it be worth it. But as it is, despite this. For a basic place it is lacking in its standard accommodations. A small plus is that they do have a water cooler to fill your bottles with water if needed. Also its very weird that they put a wristband on you for your stay as if you are at some sort of inclusive resort because it doesn't have any benefits such as special entries etc. Sad to say, I can't really recommend and I would look around to other...

There are communication challenges.||||This year (2023) I dillydallied because I was waiting on a friend with health issues. I monitored daily on the various booking channels and it was reasonable. ||||Then when I decided to go, 12 Feb. It was no longer available so I booked Holiday Inn Express.|||| Lovely hotel but 50 min (to/from) drive into old town where friends were staying is a whole lot of jostling cobblestone. ||||||On 17 March I went to Encino to nail reservations for the rest of my stay. I was offered undetermined room at 1,000 MP or king with balcony at 1500 MP. I try to avoid being out and about with money or credit cards so I said I would come back the next day to pay. Next day it was blocked at check-in so I telephoned later in the evening and was quoted a new rate of 1,700 MP $127 Can) .|||| Life is short and allowing Holiday Inn was lovely, clean, cheap, and sumptuous breakfast? But, it is an airport hotel and not a vacation destination. ||||So I checked out of Holiday Inn and went to Encino. ||||Puerto Vallarta Hotels were pretty much blocked to capacity and rates, where you could find them? Beyond $150 per night for lower quality than Encino. ||||To cut the quick. 1,700 got me a room with three beds (I was solo) and an exterior window. Life moves on. Wi-Fi did work in lobby and over the courtyard. ||||The staff spoke very little English, then I speak no Spanish, and it is a Spanish speaking country. ||||Room was clean, TV worked, A/C worked, coffee was available in morning, elevator was only down once. The location is perfect. Relative to what was available in the romantic area? I still got value for money. Puerto Vallarta is grossly over touristed in Old Town.||||I have stayed at Encino many times. Safe, clean, and reasonably priced. In early Jan 2020 I booked (Expedia). I was scheduled to arrive mid Feb but I cancelled my reservation shortly after because I anticipated COVID. On 11 March 2020 (WHO) declared COVID an international concern. Prepaid / non refundable with 7 weeks notice shortly after booking. Thems the breaks.||||All in all. No staff issues. Just...
Read moreWe have stayed at Encino almost every time we’ve visited Puerto Vallarta and this trip has been extremely disappointing. Not only were we not given the room we had booked online (room with queen beds) but when trying to get to the bottom of it all they basically just said we would have to contact who we booked it through online and there’s nothing they can do. The air conditioning unit was so loud in the room it sounded like a jet engine. As soon as we entered the room it smelled very strongly of sewage & the bathroom consistently reeked. Once we finally switched rooms days later to a room with queen beds, the shower water pressure stopped working. We were told it would be okay again in a half hour.. 3 hours later and it still wasn’t working properly so we used the sink and a cup to shower. We were also told the day we were switching rooms to come back at 2 for the new room and when we came back at 2:30 they then said 3. We came back at 3:30 and they asked if we could wait because their staff was still cleaning.. the cleaning staff and bellhops are kind and do their best but the management and maintenance team of this hotel clearly have a lot of catching up to do. This hotel is a 4.5 star when it was $18 a night, for $56 a night it’s no more than a 2 star. Know you will no longer be getting what...
