I was so disappointed. I read reviews online that said this place was amazing. I went for lunch, the place is nice enough and the service was good, but the food. I got the Mexican platter. The meat was good, the enchilada, taquito, rice, beans were all l-meh. My drink was not good. Later I realized that I had it written down as a breakfast place! So I decided I'd give it another chance, because maybe breakfast was there specialty. No. OMG. So much worse (see picture) The waffles were soggy and gross, the "maple syrup" was Heinz fake syrup, the fruit was sour, the cappuccino I don't know what to say about it, except it was not a cappuccino. And the bacon, was like bacon bits, hard and crunchy and gross. Look at it in the picture! I'm pretty sure this is the food they feed to prisoners and college students in the states. (La Palapa breakfast was just about the same price and 1000 times better). I was talking to a local who told me that sometime recently they changed owners or management or whatever and now no one goes there anymore. The actual location on the river is nice, but not worth trying to choke down this food.

Enjoyed our wonderful evening at River Cafe! As we close out our season, my partner and I choose a nice place for our final PV meal (of the season!) and River Cafe topped the list. Whoa, what a gorgeous restaurant walking up and in to!! Lovely decor and spacious seating. We were promptly greeted and escorted to our table-out of the main restaurant via a little bridge to a smaller more intimate seating area. Next to the river, full of luscious green plants. Alejandro was the best waiter and took very good care of us! He was super polite and attentive, even giving us some samples of wine to help make up our mind. He gave us some appetizer and entree recommendations and we heeded the warning-and he was not wrong. I mean, I’d trust him as he has been working there for 23 years. I had the beef tenderloin with a Pinot noir, my partner had the pork chop with a Sauvignon blanc. The Brie as an appetizer with an old fashioned and passion fruit margarita. All of it was DELICIOUS! To top it off was the vanilla ice cream/amaretto dessert. We did not leave hungry and cannot wait to come back for more!!

The only bad thing I can think of is ... they ran out of CRAB taquitos! Otherwise this place was great! It set a great tone for my vacay in PV. The civeche, queso and guacamole were fresh and paired well with the fresh tortilla chips. The cripsy plantain chips were really good too. Although they ran out of crab they did make me pollo taquitos which were an excellent substitution. My husband enjoyed the fish tacos, crispy and fresh. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed with an open seating concept. Beautiful authentic Mexican decor and its located right on the river in zona romantica! They have water misters which kept the restaurant cool. I would definitely recommend a stop here for lunch! Great service and the lemonade pitcher we purchased lasted us all weekend at our hotel! The lemonade was a mix between fresh squeezed lemonade and seltzer water. Almost tasted carbonated.
