Underwhelming, rocky beach with misleading reviews. Those who enjoy the walk should rate the Malecon instead. Beach review: it is average at best. Entrance is rocky and past that it’s too deep enjoy, approximately where the waves crash. Neither adults nor children felt comfortable in the water. It is much better and cleaner south of the pier. If you have kids, go south. Anyone who is well travelled will be disappointed. EDIT: we returned two days later, following a day of rain, and the water was brown. Following a walk on the malecon, I found the source of the problem - a brown river that runs into the ocean.

Olas Atlas beach is a nice beach for a number of reasons. I think it's best to just look at what the locals use the beach for.... fishing, playing in the river, volleyball, watching turtles come to lay their eggs here and...they really do. What it's not great for is swimming. Go down to the pier to do that. The locals are super cool. Always wear water shoes if you are wading around.

Olas Altas Beach is beautiful. It is in front of the Pacific Ocean. I love this area with many beautiful views and delicious restaurants here. The walk was fantastic! The location was beautiful, comfortable, and very safe. The people were very welcoming and friendly! I love to check out the shops and get a yummy drink here when I visit the beach and the surroundings too!
