Plaza Mar on Los Muertos Beach in Old Town Puerto Vallarta — Local services in Jalisco

Before beginning the five star review Plaza Mar and of the Condo we stayed in ( #603 ), we wanted to mention that we've had a lot of experience worldwide with accommodation over the years and have seen a variety of what is available to travellers....we have had some challenges and some delightful surprises, but without a doubt, the moment we walked into this building and especially into this beautifully and thoughtfully renovated condo, we knew we'd found our new benchmark......WOW. Quick note about the ideal location of Plaza Mar..... The beach and the boardwalk are literally "down the stairs and out the door", as are dozens of restaurants, retail outlets and markets. Anything we needed was right at our fingertips - it would be very easy to stay several weeks in this area without missing a beat .||||Our first point of contact at the front desk was Jimmy, who smoothly & professionally handled our check in, answered our questions & helped us get settled..he is an excellent and knowledgeable resource , & he along with the owner of #603 who was available to meet us when we arrived MORE than went the distance for us. The owner showed us through the entire condo, explained where all the light switches were, walked us through the available technology and use of the appliances, took us up to the Top floor swimming pool, offered to help us find restaurants & activities & just generally made sure we knew he was available for help throughout our stay....there was no question he couldn't answer and there wasn't a single moment we felt that we were bothering him . The space is absolutely GORGEOUS and the photographs are accurate..anyone who travels often knows that the images presented don't always match reality but not so in this case.||||Many things about this condo are outstanding.. . ||||The kitchen is enormous ( no kidding it actually is ) and it has been so well stocked with cooking equipment that travellers like us, who do actually dine in have no trouble creating a meal. There were spices, and oil and utensils and paper products available to us and so much counter space that nothing had to be left of the floor or put in another room. The owner and his family have put a huge effort into making that kitchen "livable" and we were so grateful for the conveniences..it is bar none the best we've ever had in a rental. ||||. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and tastefully decorated, with TONS of closet and drawer space. The beds are comfortable and both bedrooms have ceiling fans..what a massive difference that makes to restful sleep. And there has been floor lighting installed! How helpful is that when you wake up disoriented in a new place? Also, the doors that can be closed to separate the deck from the main part of the condo completely cut the noise, and there can be a lot of it coming from the beach..that was a huge relief at night.||||* This is a biggie to us....THERE WERE CLEARLY WRITTEN OUT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE WASHER, DRYER AND TV'S. Not to belabour a point, but when you've travelled as much as we have and have tried in vain to operate an appliance you are not accustomed to, the frustration level can skyrocket. No such problem here, let me tell you. Someone truly thought about the fact that when guests are vacationing. the less hassle for them the better....||||*. The last thing we wanted to mention was the owner himself - what an amazing host. He is friendly and relaxed, has a genuine interest in his guests, makes himself available for assistance and goes out of his way to ensure that his renters have the best experience possible....case in point. We had just arrived from Nuevo and realized we'd forgotten an important item at the condo we'd been staying at. Without our even asking, he got on his phone and completely solved the issue for us, saving us a ton of time and worry and getting that item back in our hands that same afternoon. This is how all hosts should treat their guests - thoughtfully and respectfully since we are all people and we all need help from time to time. That gets an A+ from me. We will absolutely be back to #603.....the only thing that will change is next time we'll stay for...

This is the perfect location for all your adventures in Vallarta. This was our 2nd stay at Plazamar. Unit 606 is stellar, but any unit in this complex would be perfect. We overlooked the "Tile Park" with all the activities....no need for TV. But we also had an awesome view of Los Muertos beach and the pier and the mountains. Who could ask for more? ||The bed was super comfortable, clean and firm. The linens and pillows were dreamy. There is plenty of room to sprawl out- in the living room, on the balcony and in the bedroom. The cross breezes were heavenly. The kitchen had everything we needed. The staff are attentive and informative. The whole property is immaculate. Laundry facilities that overlook the ocean? Yes! ||The buses and taxis are right around the corner. Fantastic restaurants everywhere. Local market 5 minutes walk. ||We booked through Jeff Mustos, the PV Kid. Excellent service and no hiccups. Smooth check in and check out. ||The only downside (for us, maybe not for you) is the tiny rooftop pool that tends to be overtaken by the same 6 people, all friends, all day. We felt like interlopers and felt super uncomfortable. So we didn't take advantage of it. But that was us, maybe you would...
