RIAD ALHAMBRA CHAOUEN — Hotel in Chefchaouen

One of our group trip highlights! I had been communicating with the lovely and kind owner ( Anass) for several months as I was wanting to stay at the Riad with our group of 9 as part of a tour I organised. He was so helpful as he was adding a new area to the riad to have more twin bed options so we could book there. Apart from the charming and immacculately clean and cute riad, the standout is the staff. I've lived and travelled a lot in Morocco and Omar and Amjad are 2 of the best guys ever who have looked after us ( they are in the front row of photo they suggested a group shot). From getting all of us from the square to the riad up the steps and winding laneways (including my elderly father in the little luggage van), nothing was too much trouble, organising dinners, bags, buckets of ice, tips, they were AMAZING! The rooftop view is incredible, either for a sunny delicious breakfast ( they have sfenj...Moroccan donuts 😍) or a starry night dinner, our highlight bring on the Friday night with couscous. Beds are on the firmer side but that's the norm in Morocco. AC worked well. Wifi too. My only ( little) negatives as I had seen all the different guest rooms in our group, is that the new ' wing' rooms are not nearly as nice or spacious as the main riad. Way too small for 2 beds ( or 3 in our case.. you had to climb over a bed to get out). Be aware it can take a while for the hot water/ mixing to work, but when you see how steep the mountains are, it's a miracle at all that they can build there, so its not a big deal ( maybe in winter it would be?). If you're looking for a peaceful and charming escape in the blue city, this Riad is it. This wasn't just a place to sleep; it was, honestly, the absolute best stay we had in all of Morocco. We felt instantly relaxed the moment we stepped inside. Stepping into Serenity (Design & Comfort) The Riad itself is stunningly beautiful and truly felt like our personal oasis. The first thing we noticed? The incredible cleanliness and how amazing the Riad smelled—it was a subtle, welcoming scent that immediately washed away the travel stress. Our bathroom was clean, bright, and spacious, which felt like such a luxury after a long day of exploring. We loved relaxing on the roof, where the rooftop views of the blue city are truly special. Amjad and the Team: The staff, led by the wonderful Amjad, completely elevated our stay. Their attention to detail and kindness was outstanding. Getting to the Riad can be tricky with luggage due to the stairs, so we were incredibly grateful that they immediately came to get our bags and carry them up—a huge relief! We also appreciated how organized they were; they kept in perfect contact via Booking.com and were proactive with updates. Their flexibility made our last day stress-free; they were so easygoing with our slightly delayed check-out, and always made sure we had plenty of water available. Our stay at Riad Alhambra Chaouen was absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly situated in the heart of the old medina, the riad offers the ideal base for exploring everything Chefchaouen has to offer. From its winding blue-painted streets and bustling souks to the panoramic viewpoints and cosy cafés tucked away in hidden corners, everything is just a short walk away.

The staff at the riad are warm and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Omar, in particular, went above and beyond personally greeting us at the parking area and kindly helping us with our luggage up the steep incline to the riad. His assistance and professionalism made our arrival effortless, and we couldn’t have asked for a kinder welcome.

Chefchaouen itself is a place of charm and tranquillity, whether you’re wandering the maze-like alleys, sampling traditional Moroccan dishes, or venturing out to the surrounding Rif mountains for breathtaking hikes. Staying at Riad Alhambra Chaouen gave us the perfect balance of comfort, authenticity, and proximity to it all.

Notre séjour au Riad Alhambra Chaouen a été absolument exceptionnel. Idéalement situé au cœur de la médina, le riad constitue le point de départ parfait pour explorer tout ce que Chefchaouen a à offrir. Des ruelles sinueuses aux façades bleues et des souks animés aux points de vue panoramiques en passant par les cafés chaleureux nichés dans des recoins cachés, tout est accessible à pied. Le personnel du riad est chaleureux et accueillant, et nous nous sommes sentis chez nous dès notre arrivée. Omar, en particulier, a fait preuve d’une grande gentillesse : il est venu nous accueillir personnellement au parking et nous a aidés avec amabilité à porter nos bagages jusqu’au riad, malgré la pente raide. Son aide et son professionnalisme ont rendu notre arrivée des plus agréables, et nous n’aurions pas pu espérer meilleur accueil. Chefchaouen est une ville pleine de charme et de sérénité, que l’on découvre en flânant dans ses ruelles labyrinthiques, en dégustant des plats traditionnels marocains, ou en partant randonner dans les montagnes du Rif environnantes pour profiter de paysages à couper le souffle. Séjourner au Riad Alhambra Chaouen nous a offert l’équilibre parfait entre confort, authenticité et proximité avec toutes ces merveilles.
