Great little Ryad in a great location in Chefchaouen. The rooms were great, the staff was very nice and helpful. The food at the hotel was delicious - whether the morning breakfast or even more so the dinner (chicken tajine). It was nice to have a pool after a long day (you need to reserve your spot to use it, but it's private so you can enjoy it more). In one of the rooms you could hear the noise from the street at night, which isn't ideal if you are a lighter sleeper but that may be the case for most accommodations in the medina.
The main reason this is not a 5* is because we got a surprise at checkout: the hotel offers "full menu" for dinner (which includes an appetizer, dinner and dessert). It is far from cheap, but we were ok with it as it was good food, and convenient. However, at checkout we were shocked to see that we were charged extra for having water during dinner. We assumed the full menu would include water, and no one told us otherwise at any point. Not only that, the price that was charged for the bottles of water was at least 8X we would have paid in the store across from the hotel, and at least 2X from what we have been charged at any other restaurant including higher end ones!! We did express our surprise at check-out - the staff mentioned that the price of drinks was written on one of the menus - we hadn't seen it before, but didn't feel like arguing further. If you do order lunch/dinner at the hotel make sure to confirm what you are being charged for and how much. And you might be getting better value by going out and grabbing dinner in one of the many restaurants...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Moroccan hammam at Lina Ryad & Spa in Chefchaouen, and it was nothing short of amazing. My hammam experience was made exceptional by the professionalism and expertise of Najawa, the wonderful lady who conducted the session. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone planning to visit this establishment.
However, there was one aspect that left me slightly confused. Upon entering the hotel, I noticed Najawa carrying plates, which made me wonder if she also had a role as a waitress. This dual role was a bit unclear, as I initially expected her to solely be a professional hammam attendant. It would be helpful for the hotel to clarify the staff's roles for guests' better understanding.
Setting aside this minor confusion, everything else about my hammam experience was absolutely perfect. The facility was impeccably clean, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable atmosphere for the session. Additionally, the food we ordered after the hammam exceeded all expectations, adding another delightful dimension to our visit.
In summary, my visit to Lina Ryad & Spa for a Moroccan hammam was a fantastic experience, largely thanks to Najawa's expertise. While the dual role of staff members could be clarified, the overall cleanliness and quality of service were exceptional. I would gladly return for another relaxing and rejuvenating hammam session followed by a...
Read moreI am shocked that this hotel is rated 5 stars. Personally, I would give it 2 stars for the following reasons: 1. There are no elevators! I have seen many old and historic buildings but with elevators installed within such buildings. 2. There are no phones in hotel rooms. 3. You cannot borrow irons and all clothes need ironing should be brought to the reception in front of other guests!!! 4. Very low quality ironing with sleeves of my shirt were still wet when it was handed over to my room. 5. Staff require intensive training on how to deal with the guests who come in from many parts of the world. 6. Accessibility to this hotel is a nightmare. 7. Insulations between rooms and floors are very poor. 8. Overpriced rooms.9. Breakfast is the same with no options. 10. Toilets and other facilities are not well maintained. 11. The safe box is out of order. 12. There are no good views in rooms with view!!! 13. There are no tissues in the rooms!! 14. Internet connection is extremely bad and you have to go to the reception to get a stronger signal. 15. There are no trash bins in the rooms!!!16. The sockets are malfunctioned. 17. The lights were flickering. 18. The staff were fighting and you could hear them shouting at each other.19. Shataf (water hose) in the rooms were not working. 20. The stairs were very steep and dangerous and EHS measures were not taken seriously...
