I stayed at this hotel for one night based on a friend's recommendation. Since I had been recommended this place and am a backpacker, I asked for the cheapest room available, and they provided one.
From the start, the room had some issues. There seemed to be a problem with the electrical wiring, as I heard crackling noises when plugging in my charger. I was afraid the adapter might break or cause a fire, so I couldn’t use it. Additionally, there was condensation on the ceiling, causing water droplets to fall once an hour. Despite this, I thought it was a minor inconvenience that I could endure during my backpacking trip, so I tried to get some sleep.
The worst part happened during the night. I woke up in the morning because of water droplets falling from the ceiling. The condensation had worsened overnight, and numerous droplets were falling continuously. I even noticed that paint was peeling off the ceiling and falling onto the bed and floor. I recorded a video and confirmed that droplets were falling twice every 30 seconds.
During breakfast, I asked the staff about compensation. They said they didn’t have the authority and advised me to speak with the manager (whom I had never seen before). I requested a refund of 2/3 of the room cost.
After finishing breakfast, the manager arrived. Her response was shocking. She said it was my fault for not asking to change rooms when the problem occurred, and thus compensation was impossible. She even told me to call the police if I wanted to. Her firm stance made me not want to argue further, especially since I had to catch a bus to my next destination, so I agreed and was about to leave. At that moment, she started yelling at me. My request for a refund might have upset her, but I believe an apology should have come first. I’ve been traveling for a month now, and this was the worst lodging experience I've ever had. This was the worst...
Read moreThe host Adnan was extremely friendly and always around if you needed anything, the decorations and overall vibe of the riad is very pleasant and despite being in the center of the Medina, the riad is quiet. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and we saw sheets being washed every morning. Most rooms had bars on the windows allowing you to keep them open, but since ours did not we felt we needed to keep them closed... had the room had a fan the temperature would have been perfect, but it wasn't too difficult to fall asleep and stay comfortable (end of September). Important to note that there is visual privacy in your room but you hear basically everything that is happening in the riad as it is relatively close quarters, though the staff and other guests were respectful of one another and didn't make excessive noise. The breakfast is basic - toasted white bread with jam butter cheese etc. with assorted fried breads that while delicious, we found we couldn't finish them all as a start to our day. The juice was fresh and tasty and it was nice to wake up to food right out of bed. Overall we would...
Read moreWe enjoyed this small Riad! We stayed here 3 nights and the staff was eager to help with directions and any other needs. I would opt to pay extra to have a room with bathroom/shower as we did. I got the feeling that other guests questioned their decision to do without and use community ones. They do not have a restaurant but their breakfasts typical and good. They also have a small boutique on the premises and were very competitive to other vendors. We must have had very respectful other guest, because noise was not an issue. Only minor drawback was people were allowed to smoke on their patios or the courtyard. The smoke would drift into our room since the windows were not the type that seal up. Despite that we had a...
