This beautiful 800 years old (as told by owners brother) is centrally located near the heart of shopping centers.||We arrived by train to Fes and were picked up by the Riad transportation. Please be aware the 9 euros is per 2 persons a fact clarified later and caused confusion as we were a family of 4. We were greeted on arrival by the owner's brother and wife.||She made us mint tea while he gave us a tour of the Riad and showed us our rooms.||We had 2 rooms on different floors. But after noting we were travelling wit kids he gave us a room next to our kids. He gave us a little information and left with his wife. We were left to explore the Riad as no one else was staying there. We decided to explore the place and returned after dinner. We contacted Mr Melyani (the owner). He arrived late night with his daughter (who is now a friend to my daughter). Was very friendly. Our rooms had no air conditioning. As no guests were around he offered rooms on the upper floors with air conditioning. We ended up using 4 rooms instead of 2. We literally had the Riad to ourselves. He explained all the attractions to me and my husband. He offered use of his kitchen and washing machine. We only used it to store water in the fridge. He stayed with his daughter overnight and left early morning.||In the morning we were offered a good Moroccon breakfast, orange juice on the terrace with a view of the mosque and Merinad tombs) and coffee (on request).||We even packed some orange juice. Laila the help was very warm and friendly.||The sister in law arrived in the morning.||We enjoyed the tour of Fes and later in the evening shopped in the 2 streets near the Riad. Very close to shopping places. Mr Melyani prepared watermelon juice for us. His daughter and ours became good friends. We talked a little bit about Eid and Mr Melyani wanted us to stay and celebrate Eid with his family. He was kind enough to go out and buy water for our trip the next day.He again stayed overnight and left early morning with his daughter for prayers.||Next morning was Eid. Despite this on request (as we had to start at 8:00 am for our next trip)Laila arrived early with delicious home made Moroccon breakfast of Beghrir, harcha and khobz with some homemade cottage cheese , jam and butter. Also had coffee and orange juice. After handing over the keys we were given a warm farewell by Liala.||||After reading reviews about Riads we decided to stay in Riads. As a note of caution please be aware these old homes are in the old Medina and access is through old alleys and roads. We were caught by surprise. It is a little noisy at night. In one od our bathrooms when we took off the drain cover for water to drain, there was stench of gutter. Also there was a cockroach in my kids room.||||Otherwise it is a beautiful clean Riad with clean beds, towels, modern amenities and soap, People are extremely friendly kind and generous which more than makes up for some...
Read moreOmar's place is our home in Fez. The room is wonderfully decorated, impeccably clean, and well-maintained. It truly feels like home, not a hotel. The terrace, where we enjoyed the amazing breakfast, was one of our favorite moments in Fez. The unbeatable panoramic views of the entire city, with the sounds of birds, roosters, donkeys, prayer sings in sunrise and sunset.
Omar is a kind soul, remembered by everyone for his generosity, warmth, and incredible breakfast, dinner offerings, and mint teas. His wife, Esma, is a wonderful and beautiful lady who makes the home feel even more like a home. She’s always in the kitchen, preparing delicious meals. Despite it being Ramadan, we tried to eat modestly in front of them, but they continued to offer us food and beverages. The indoor terrace is where we met our neighbor, shared delicious homemade soups, that bonded us with interesting conversations.
Our hearts are full of warmth and love. Thank you for such a wonderful return after three years. We will definitely return again, and next time, we’ll...
Read moreI stayed 6 wonderful nights at Riad Melyani and it was an amazing experience. The hospitality was truly exceptional and I i immediately felt welcomed and at ease, i felt like home. I absolutely loved Omar his personality, his kindness, and the way he truly cares about his guests. You can clearly feel that he loves what he does, he doesn’t do it for the money, but out of genuine passion and heart. The food was delicious, authentic, and full of flavor, and the rooftop terrace with its view over Fes is simply stunning, especially at sunset. The vibe of the riad is warm and peaceful, and i enjoyed every moment of my stay. I highly recommend Riad Melyani and would definitely come back.
Thank you for such a...
