Clean rooms can't make up for an uncaring liar of an owner who is truly one of the worst people I've met in the ~80 countries I've visited.||||Upon arrival to the hotel which is presently under construction, I was directed to a room different from what I booked. The indifferent owner said my room was "being painted". It was not. My room was occupied by other guests for whatever reason.||||The next morning, the owner was absent (as usual, and he's apparently the only one who works in reception) and I was wondering about whether I would need to change rooms. Over the phone, the owner said I could change rooms in the evening with no further details (he clearly had just been awakened and had no time for me). I returned to the hotel about two hours later to find the front door open, the door to another room open, and my things - having been moved outside my presence or consent - sitting in plain view for anyone to help themselves. The cleaning lady is the only one there most often and speaks no English. ||||As I was speaking with the owner on the phone about why he lied to me and why my things had been moved, he hung up on me and did not appear at the hotel for hours. The cleaning lady, also a liar, told me that he was driving to the hotel and couldn't answer the phone. This went on for more than two hours. Upon his arrival he was incredibly rude and pretended not to speak English, even though he had managed well enough the previous night. He eventually refunded the remaining nights, but not without trying to screw me out of a few euro first, of course.||||Security on the room doors is also an issue, as, when you are in the room, the door is locked only by a latch which can be easily flipped open through the inch-wide crack between the French doors (through which the rooms can be easily seen from the outside).||||So, yeah, avoid. Worst...
Read moreWe (family of five people) had booked us in advance into another Riad Eva, but were sent on to Riad Tarik (another story and not good)|First on arrival we met Tarik and after some missunderstandings, it turned out that even this place was not going to host us the first two nights. We would get another place and then move in to Tarik . First the other place was described as a beautiful Riad with a nice pool, maybe a bit more expensive. He left us and then came back with new information. Now another place -if we wanted to come and see a little Appartement. At that point of headache and tiredness we agreed for two nights and hoped no more change. (The Appartement we found on Abnb about 30€ cheaper (without breakfast). The house carer was very nice and We asked If we could stay the other two nights with her, which we luckily could and did (5 people in peak season don’t leave you so full of choices). We wouldn’t stay at Tariks place after...
Read moreArrived in Marrakech and transferred to Riad Tarek which had been paid for months in advance through Travel agency. On arrival Tarik eventually showed up saying we had no room booked and that he had a problem with water and no guests were staying at the Riad. However several guests were coming and going from the Riad during the time we were talking to him. Tarik became aggressive and threw our bags in to the busy street, telling us to get out of his house. After a long journey from the North of Scotland it was distressing to find ourselves without accommodation in the busy medina of marrakech at 9 pm in evening. We managed to get on line and book a hotel which we really couldn't afford, and got a porter with a cart to help us transfer all our luggage out of the medina to an alternative hotel, trudging after the man with the cart. My advice to anyone? DO NOT BOOK RIAD TARIK. You may find yourself in a distressful situation...
