We arranged pickup from the train station and the driver was on the inside of the station and we were outside as there were no pickup instructions. The drivers attitude was unpleasant and he didn’t offer to help us with our baggage. We had to even ask him to bring the car to us.||When we arrived at the outside of the Riad, the driver stated no one was available to meet us from the Riad and to pay a strange young boy a few dirhams to take our bags in the wagon.||All of this should have been arranged by the Riad and planned. We were not given water it was very rushed and they didn’t tell us anything to expect or what was available to us. What times we could come and go. There is a sign saying 24/7 availability but they didn’t respond to our outreach attempts. The room looked nothing like the pictures. The pictures are extremely filtered. Our room was dusty, and the towels were old, low amenities in the shower. ||It was very poorly managed. ||We had gone to Marrakech for a wedding and we came back late one night and the gentleman who opened the door was not happy and unpleasant. We were never told there was a curfew or anything about the policies.||The most shocking experience was when we were trying to check out and leave early because of the awful experience we were being told that we have to pay the extra 3 nights and if we don’t the man who was working there would have to pay for it out of his paycheck!! The owners wouldn’t pick up the phone and the manager was ignoring the phone calls and leaving this poor worker to deal with the check out. I have never ever had an experience like this.. they refused to let us leave and no one wanted to be accountable for what we went through.||Bottom line don’t believe the pictures or the reviews, many were written by their family and friends who are...
Read moreI am going to take the time to write a full review as this would have helped me. We stayed at Riad Dar El Souk for 4 night in mid-january, 2 ladies (sisters).
The riad itself is pretty good, we thought we got a good deal (mind you we booked via a 3rd party which included flights). The rooftop is amazing, great to chill, the room is spacious, clean and the bathroom has all commodities (event qtip and makeup remover cotton). The food is amazing: tasty and comes in huge amount. We had difficulties finishing every breakfast. On the first night we took their menu (20€ for a 3 course meal) and the starter would have been enough, though it was so good! Finally the staff is great, always on the lookout to help make your stay better especially Abdul and Fatima. You can leave your luggage with them before check-in and afte'r check-out without any doubts. All in all I would go back.
As amazing as a place can be we all know location is everything. Being with my sister, 2 ladies, we had no issues but didn't take any risk. In January the days are shorter and it's dark by 7pm. The street is lit but we always came back before 10:30PM. In the summer, we would not have minded it one bit. If you are more than 2 or with a male, it is different and all will be well. What I'm saying is if I had been travelling alone, I probably would not have felt the greatest as it is in a tiny street further from the crowdy and busy main street of the medina. Hope this helps anyone who...
