We are utterly appalled by our so-called “visit” to Otto. Despite pre-booking and following their reservation system to the letter, we requested the rooftop for cocktails only. Upon arrival, they asked for our reservation but didn’t bother to check it, instead, they herded us upstairs like cattle. We were unceremoniously seated between two smoking couples, despite there being plenty of other available spots. The only thing they managed to do quickly was bring us still water. When we finally decided on our cocktails, we were rudely informed, “No, I will not accept that. Two starters minimum.” I explained that we had reserved for drinks only, but the waiter couldn’t care less. Forced to look at the food menu, we found it utterly unappealing. Perhaps we have refined tastes, but the food did not match the supposed vibe of the restaurant at all. To make matters worse, I have a nut allergy, and it seemed like everything on the menu contained nuts. When the waiter returned, we attempted to order the carpaccio without hazelnuts, only to be told, “Nut allergy. We cannot serve you.” This would have been acceptable if we were allowed to just have cocktails, but no, we were forced to order food. Left with no choice, we drank the still water (which we had to pay for) and left. The waiter’s rudeness was beyond belief. We are beyond disappointed and frustrated. Having read previous glowing reviews, we expected a wonderful experience to share with friends. Needless to say, we will not be sharing this place with anyone, nor will we recommend it. The cherry on top was a waitress asking if we had a good time; my response: “The water is great.” Absolutely fuming, but it is what it is. A complete waste of money and an experience marred by rudeness that defies belief for an establishment with...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant specifically because of the great reviews for the pasta with prawns, one of only a handful of main dishes on the menu, and given the price tag, came with high expectations for a premium dining experience. The disappointment started before we could even order mains. First, a simple request for apple juice for our daughter was met with a 90 Dirham (£9) price tag—the cost of a specialty mocktail—after initially being told they had none. The real blow came when we asked about the signature pasta dish, only to be told it was unavailable. When we politely informed the waiter that we would only be paying for the Coke Zero and leaving, the atmosphere instantly soured. The initial polite and friendly demeanor of the staff completely vanished, replaced by a hostile and unwelcoming attitude. The speed with which they changed their tune was shocking. We were told to drink up our Coke and pay, while the staff immediately began clearing our table around my daughter as she was still getting ready to leave. They went so far as to immediately invite a nearby couple to move to our still-occupied table. The waiter, now overtly rude, dismissively told me to pay downstairs. The lack of basic client courtesy continued right to the exit, where the two hostesses stared at us with an unwarranted coldness. For one of the most expensive menus in Marrakesh, the level of professionalism is deeply lacking. It costs nothing to treat clients with respect, and the way they handled our change of order guarantees we will never return to try the signature dish. Be cautious if you consider eating here; expect a pleasant experience only if you complete a full,...
Read moreIf you're looking for a place to experience blatant racism and discrimination, congratulations—you've found it. Forget the polished photos on Instagram, TikTok, or Google Maps; for the real story, head to Trip Advisor, where you’ll discover the truth behind this establishment’s facade.
Me and three friends went there hoping to enjoy some time at the rooftop. To our shock, we were refused entry with the excuse that we needed a booking. Fine, we thought. We immediately called to book a table, only to be told there were no tables available. Yet, moments later, we successfully made a reservation through their app.
Determined to understand what was happening, we decided to return to the rooftop, only to find that all the tables were available. Yes, all of them—empty and unused. At this point, it was painfully clear that the issue wasn’t about availability, but something far more insidious. We asked to speak with the manager, hoping for an explanation. Instead, we were met with further disappointment. The manager couldn’t communicate in French or English—essential languages in the hospitality industry—and handled the situation with staggering incompetence and indifference.
This wasn’t just bad service; it was an embarrassing, humiliating, and deeply disheartening experience. How does an establishment justify such behavior? A place that prides itself on exclusivity should never make people feel excluded based on discriminatory practices. It’s 2024—how is this...
