RIAD Hôtel Essaouira — Hotel in Marrakesh Prefecture

ATTENZIONE TRUFFATORE! Il riad in se per se non è male, se non fosse per la puzza di fogna abbastanza forte nei bagni. Il problema è il proprietario che è un vero BUGIARDO e TRUFFATORE. Non prenotate esperienze con questo riad, che sono il doppio più costose di quelle che potete trovare in città, usatelo solo per dormire. Non danno nessun suggerimento e quando vengono fatte delle richieste non rispondono mai in modo chiaro e soprattutto dicendo la verità. Il giorno in cui cui partivamo ci aveva assicurato non ci fossero problemi nel fare colazione poco prima dell'orario stabilito, peccato non avesse avvisato i suoi dipendenti, che non avevano fatto spesa per quell'ora (anche qui organizzazione pessima, vivendo alla giornata...). In generale pessima esperienza e professionalità assente.

Eng. Version: ATTENTION SCAMMERS! The riad is not that bad per se, but you have to deal with a strong sewer smell in the bathroom. The real problem is that the manager is a LIAR and a CROOK. Do NOT buy any experience with this riad, they are twice as overprice as anyone else apparently, without giving any benefit from this. Use this riad just to sleep if you want to book. The manager didn't provide any useful information, even when asked, his answers are always vague and straight up lies. The day we depart form the riad the managers told us it wouldn't be a problem to have an early breakfast, but then didn't communicate this to his staff that know nothing about this and didn't have anything to eat (just 20 minutes before the formal start of the breakfast anyway, so terrible organization too). Overall terrible experience, don't book here.

EDIT FOR THE RIAD: NO, didn't have problems with someone else, the problem was YOU and the guy that was on desk. You're answer is the proof that you are just LIAR, you offerening a service made you responsible for that service, even if you rely on an outside organization. Anyway you lied about the breakfast and didn't provided any useful information, making the experience with YOU a very unpleasant one. Positive: I stayed two nights on my own at this property, it was a nice change after 2 days in a hot and noisy hostel! The hotel is beautiful, with a little fountain in the patio and a breakfast room on the top floor. I had a room on the ground floor, so I got a bit of noise from families who killed time in the patio but nothing exaggerated. The hotel is at the end of a quiet alley, so it's very peaceful; I slept very well. My room was clean (I didn't use the daily clean-up service though), mattress and bed clothes were OK and the WiFi and airco worked well. Bathroom was clean and shower had hot water. Breakfast was average: bread, one hot pancake, and just several types of butter and marmalade without any cheese or ham. Good price for a central location. Staff was friendly and helpful (they printed my boarding pass at no cost).

For those looking for the exact location, it's at the end of the small alley that starts from the main Riad Zitoum el Kdim suk street (walk past the hotel Essaouira, it's not the Riad hotel!), which on its turn starts from the main square (it's the second sidestreet to the left) and very near the square.

Negative: There was a bit of a lingering smell emanating from the bathroom drain. My sink was clogged and didn't drain quickly, after taking out the stop, it worked well. WiFi...

Very pretty hotel, great aesthetics as soon as you walk into the courtyard. I had a ground floor which had chairs/lounge out the front of the room which was nice to chill on.|Room was on the smaller size but all good for one person and other rooms upstairs may have been bigger as I only booked a single room. Bathroom was really big and looked like it had been newly renovated, very modern in an older Riad. Nice hot shower and provided toiletries. |Room was extremely clean and tidy, nice towels and ben linen. Super cold aircon when you want to escape from the hot medina. |Hotel is hard to find right in the middle of the Medina which may overwhelm first timers.
