What a great find with Google reviews. We didn't want to do hotel meals and used Google to help us find a place. The restaurants in the middle of the Jamma El Fnaa were too busy, had a tourist type menu (chicken nuggets and spaghetti), or had bad review from other guests. We found this little place and it is easy to miss since you can't really see any restaurant. It is a narrow, unassuming flight of stairs up to the terrace of a building in the souks. On the way up to the restaurant, you pass the small kitchen and the prep area. The restaurant is pretty small with maybe seating for 20-25 people, but the view is nice, the breeze feels really good during a hot night. The menu was typical Moroccan food, we tried the lamb chops, tangine, cous cous and everything was excellent! There were only 2 waiters, but they were always available and ready to help us with any request. The food was excellent, very well cooked, nicely seasoned and authentic. The price was about 10-15 dollars per person but they only take cash, so make sure you have cash. There is an ATM pretty close by, but the night we went, the ATM was broken. If you are looking for a place to have an authentic Moroccan meal on a terrace near the Jamma, this is the...
Read moreI second the most recent review: if you can find this place (!), this is really a hidden little oasis right in the center of all the action. Great service and, more importantly, excellent food. As a testament to this, I absolutely hate olives. If I get a single crumb in my mouth, I want to gag. But after devouring their chick pea salad, I realized in my last few bites that it actually had minced or even puréed olives! Now before you think it’s simply because Morocco has better olives, nope; I tried one last night as a test and almost yakked. So, the fact that these guys tricked me into eating a fairly large quantity of olives is a testament to their skills in the kitchen. I had brawates for the first time, basically fatter spring rolls stuffed with spiced mince meat. They were incredibly filling but very good. The kefta tagine with egg, a Moroccan staple I had wanted to try, was great. Honestly, I could see it being too eggy for some as mine probably had 4-5 eggs, but I love spicy poached eggs so I was in heaven. The presentation was spectacular and if that’s not evident from my photos, that is simply because I’m a bad photographer. I’m two for two for Moroccan food in Marrakesh; did I get lucky or is all Moroccan...
Read morePretty mediocre experience: Showed up at 8pm and asked for a table for 2 - were told (in a quite rude or at least very unfriendly way) to come back 30min later which we did. When we came back there were 4 people waiting who had also been told earlier to come back later - so realize the „come back in 30min“ doesn’t secure you a table, you‘ll just come back to queue there later. So we waited another 45min there at the reception waiting for a table to free up, in the tiny smelly entrance near the kitchen.
At this point by the time we got to the table I didn’t really feel like eating anymore - but the ordering also took forever and so did bringing the dishes. The table never got cleaned from the previous people there (I was the one moving the stuff to another table, and no wiping was done) and 2 of the 3 things we wanted to order were out (how do you run out of vegetables couscous is the question yes). We left the restaurant it was after 11pm. They don‘t take the card.
Overall the food was quite nice I have to say and fairly priced I guess. But I don‘t think its worth waisting your entire evening there to save 20dhs on your Tajine. Would...
