The restaurant was packed when we walked past and the interior was decorated with pictures of Bangkok landmarks and the Thai king, so we had high hopes of the food. After all itās run by the Thais who are proud of their cuisine.
What a disappointment when we took our first bite. We ordered the Tom yam soup chicken as a starter and it tasted only of salt, none of the Thai herbs like lemongrass, kaffir lime. Just salt and water.
Similarly the masaman curry and green curry tasted only of salt and none of the Thai herbs or seasoning. It was as if they boiled a packet of instant curry seasoning (which I thought a Thai chef would be embarrassed to ever do).
Iām starting to wonder why the other reviews rate this place so highly? Perhaps theyāve never had authentic Thai food?
Portions was decent, tap water is chargeable. Price was reasonable, slightly cheaper than other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy go-to Thai place for takeaway ! I havenāt had the pleasure to eat there because of Covid, but Iām sure that I would say this is the most authentic Thai place in Amsterdam, hands down.
Iām obsessed with their kra pao. In my opinion, itās their best dish. The green beans are crispy to taste, the meat flavorful, and packed with flavor that will leave you thirsty for milk. I have much respect for a Thai place that actually offers Thai spicy. I havenāt been to another Thai place in Amsterdam that does spice to this level.
Iāve tried every Thai takeout, and this is the only one I return to, and that I recommend to my friends. You wonāt go wrong with their krapao, they also have amazing pad Thai, super nutty and delicious.
I wish I had time to take photos, but I just canāt wait to devour the delicious food when it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am being generous giving 2 stars. We came here because of the review in The Guardian... I'm not sure how it managed to succeed to be featured. It took forever for our food to arrive, this wasn't slow - a slug may have moved faster. From sitting being seated to being served our main, it took 2 hours, with no apologies. The restaurant wasn't crammed, these guys would not survive in London, they presented two of our dishes wrongly, one had chicken instead of vegetables, the other had chicken instead of prawn. They must have had an overload of chicken!? It was too salty and I think heavy handed with the palm sugar. If you're eating Thai here in Amsterdam, head elsewhere, perhaps Billy's Thai or Thai Fusion - this is where I would go not be served by a slug-slow service with poor...
