Maximus Steakhouse — Restaurant in Amsterdam

We dined here as a party of six, so I got a good idea of most of their culinary offering, including starters, mains and side dishes. Sadly, the quality of the food was generally mediocre at best, and downright shoddy at worst. I personally ordered a rib eye steak which came with a jacket potato. The potato was bland, and was not even remotely salted. It was also fairly hard rather than fluffy. However, the biggest disappointment was the steak, which was sinewy and full of gristle. Although it was grilled to order, it was quite flavourless and not very juicy considering that it was a rib eye. The rack of veal ribs appeared to be the best of the grills we ordered.

Although the waitress who took our order was friendly enough, the staff who served the order didn't seem to care much whether we enjoyed our meals or not. Even after they got our order wrong, they did not just get right to it and fix it, but started to come up with excuses as to why they did what they did, and why they couldn't simply go to the kitchen and get the bowl of fries they didn't bring the first time round. They also left us sat there for 25 minutes after we had finished eating, and didn't come until three of us waved continuously at the waitress. Finally, the toilets were unhygienic and smelled really bad.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend this place. For Muslim travellers, it's at least halal, though it's...

Visited this restaurant yesterday to have (early) dinner. It is a small restaurant with not a lot of space so there are not many tables and these are accommodated very close to each other. To rate this restaurant on a table 0-5 stars it would be like this: Location : 4* Food : 3* (meat was tender but had no taste nor was any salt or pepper on my table, baked potato was almost burned and garnish was pathetic) Extra remark - Their plates need to be replaced. Drinks : 5* I ordered a virgin mojito and this was the best that was served to me. Good taste and very well made. Service : 2* The ladies there barely speak english and do not speak nor understand a word in dutch. They never smile, did not welcome any customer while I was sitting there and do not check up on customers if they need anything else or to ask if the food was oke. They do not really look like people that enjoy their jobs. I must say however that the food was served very fast, unfortunately that it was not really tasteful. Cleanliness: Unrated because I did not went inside but was seated outside. Price : 2* I paid €45 for what you see on these pictures. To me it’s overpriced for what you get. To me it’s not a restaurant I would return to unless I am only looking for a good mojito...

I would give the food a 5/5 it was delicious! The first time ive been to a restaurant that serves your steak exactly how you want it. I got a tenderloin steak medium and it was perfect. The food came quick, which I would expect as there were only two other tables being served and it looked like they already had their meals. • I like my tap water so when the waiter refused to provide us with this we ordered a small water not realizing it was going to cost almost 4€ for a 25cl as there was no price for this on the menu. 4€ is beyond extautionate in my opinion. • The restroom could have been better maintained but it was adequate for use. • Overall the food was great but it's very frustrating to me when a restaurant openly chooses to refuse customers with a basic necessity and then charges an extautionate price.
