I just finished eating dinner ordering Tum Yum soup and Panang (spelled differently in the menu) Curry$ 23. Before I sat down I was told at the cashier's station that the Tum Yum soup with prawns comes with seafood for $16.

When I got the bill the Tum Yum was $19 and the Panang was $24. If they have trouble with their language skills they shouldn't be answering questions that changes the price the menu states. The waitress said that it's $3 extra for the seafood in the Tum Yum soup.

Some of the reviews led me to believe there were generous portions at this restaurant. No way.

The portions were on the small side. Two cups of food for the curry and the guests accompanying me, also had smilar portions.

The quality was good at least and I'm grateful since things could have been a whole lot worse

Perhaps I'm writing this poor review because my expectations were higher than what I had received and my friends who could have eaten more. They both finished with nothing left on their plates. They did like the food.

No worries. The food was good. The people working were polite and agreed to turn down the sound so we could talk. The environment was protected with no wasted food. I paid a few dollars extra. Perhaps I shouldn't be complaining, since my stomach was happy and I've got a smile on my face.

I won't be coming back though. There are many good Thai restaurants in Christchurch still waiting...

Been there last night and I was very disappointed. The smallest meal for the highest price. Red curry was $32 and it was the size of one packet of Mi goreng instant noodle. Seriously, I ordered 2 entrees and 3 main dishes spending $120 there and still wasnt full so I had to go McDonald to eat more. Spring rolls were sour, beef in the red curry was so hard to chew and started hurting my teeth. Unless you have money rotting in the rubbish bin I strongly suggest not to go this restaurant. Honestly, if you guys want to charge so much for the meals, in my opinion, the foods have to taste exceptionally good but taste was average just like back street thai food take away shops. It just looks like you guys wanted to be a fine dining restaurant and charge a lot but obviously it is not the case. Foods are expensive as hell with the quality of foods just...

We had friends round for takeaways on the weekend. Google searched Thai food and these guys popped up.

The online ordering system was modern and user friendly. Prices seemed very reasonable. 2 starters ,4 mains change for $100 not bad.

Meal was ready for collection in 20 min (7pm on a Saturday) , Delivery was a option for another $10.

Our meals were excellent. The Curries (ordered hot) had plenty of flavor and not over the top spicy.

All in all would recommend this place for takeaways. When I collected the place was packed however the staff all smiled when I collected.

Currently there is Road Works on Victoria street which must be a real hassle for the Businesses there. I had to park in the Casino taxi stand and run across, which provoked lots of angry toots from the...

Kum Pun Thai delivered one of the most satisfying dining experiences I've had in a long time. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavour—perfectly balanced spices, rich textures, and that unmistakable Thai depth that makes you slow down and savour every bite. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with just the right blend of elegance and comfort. You could feel the care that went into the design—charming without being overdone. What truly made the night was the staff: attentive, genuinely friendly, and perfectly timed. Never intrusive, always helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. If you’re after a meal that excites your palate and leaves you smiling, Kum Pun Thai is a must-visit. Can't wait to return!

Visiting Christchurch for a week holiday from Auckland we try this Thai Restaurant . 7 minutes walk from Crowne Plaza Hotel where we stayed . Staffs welcoming us very friendly manners . Thai Restaurant inside with Authentic Asian ambiance .Great food ,great service, great value .The service is like fine dinning . Staffs know how to deal with the menus . And provide fantastic suggestions when change required for dietary reasons. Everything is awesome , nothing to complain about . We have to go back to Auckland tomorrow . Thank you for serving us all front staffs and back of the kitchen . Behind the great food taste there is always a Master chef and team who work very hard with excellent skill .

Delicious yummy food full of flavour, lovely polite helpful staff & quiet chill atmosphere. We had the Green curry salmon that comes with jasmine sticky rice & the Massaman lamb shank. Both were well prepared & the portion sizes generous. A good range of alcoholic (we had white wine - full of body & complimented our meals very well) & non alcoholic drinks to choose from with table water provided as a matter of course. Considering the central location the prices are extremely reasonable. Would definitely recommend Kum Pun Thai & we are looking forward to coming back again.
