My wife and I were attending a concert at nearby Spark Arena and she chose this hotel for proximity to the venue. Room was $300 for the night. I should start by saying that I travel a lot and am in the events industry so I'm familiar with the standard of hotels throughout New Zealand. I have stayed in at least 8 of this particular hotel group's facilities over the years. I will talk through the photos and explain what's in them. There was no bedside table on one side of the bed and no plugs for charging phones or tablets on either side of the bed either. There was no way to switch on lights above the bed either from the bed or from anywhere else in the room for that matter. The bed itself appeared to have been sat on or slept in and then the cover pulled up because the sheet was creased. I have never heard a noisier air conditioning unit then the one that was in this room and we ended up turning it off altogether. The curtains were hanging half off the rails in places and I couldn't manage to lock the door to the balcony which was a concern because we were in room 105 and were basically at ground level. The bathroom was a disgrace. The tiling was appalling, shoddy repair work was very visible and the tap on the basin leaked horribly. The shower unit was falling apart and the vertical rod that allows adjustment for height for the shower head was coming away from it's mountings. The sliding door to the bathroom was in a sorry state and was just about hanging off it's tracks. It was delaminated along the bottom and some of the hardware was ripped out of it leaving a gouge across the entire door. The power socket for the hair dryer did not work and needed a fuse reset somewhere in the hallway by the Porter. There was still a hand towel left in the waste paper basket when we arrived in the room indicating it is not been properly cleaned. If room 105 is any indication of the quality of the rest of the hotel then it is no better than the cheapest accommodation I have stayed in and would scarcely warrant two to three stars. I have had better accommodation for around half the price in Queenstown! After the concert my wife and I ordered fries, bread and butter from the meagre room service menu. We were not advised that there would be any delay in delivering this but it took over 45 minutes for this to be delivered which meant we received it around midnight. We raised a handful of these concerns and were twice told the manager would call us back but this never happened. The next morning as we checked out we spoke to the manager Dylan who seriously seemed like we were wasting his time, and scarcely even made eye contact with us. After much haggling we managed to get him to agree to give us a couple of complementary breakfasts and our car park for the night. Overall this would have been the most disappointing stay in a hotel I've had in the last 20 years, and I would be embarrassed if this was in a chain that I was associated with. I most certainly could not possibly recommend this hotel to my wedding clients, their guests, my corporate clients and conference delegates.

Poor, unsafe standard of hotel. Probable mould problem on sixth floor. Can smell the heavy, mould smell as soon as you get out of the lift and didn’t get any better in the room. Worried about all the families that were staying on that floor. A recent paint job covered the walls but no thought had gone into removing painters tape from the room so even after a month of having new paint (receptionist gave us the timeframe) cleaners seem to have constantly missed this. Changed rooms only to get a smaller room that had a leaking shower, that leaked all over the floor and also through the wall and into our belongings on the other side. On top of that, the toilet didn’t work well. No pre-ordering a park, first in first serve. Due to over selling parks ($30 a night) there was no temporary parks to unload car and children so was left with one parent taking kids and checking in while other finds a park and carry’s all the bags back to the hotel. On a good note, good location and staff at Jimmys were lovely as was the breakfast.

Stayed two nights with my partner . Got over charged 60$ at check in but was resolved without arguments . " accidentally pushed parking x 4 " Pre ordered some dinner of the menu from the restaurant down stairs as there was a staff shortage it was room service only . Was not a long wait coffee was fabulous Was a beautifuly cooked steak. Loved the potato and broccolini ! My partner had the burger said it was brilliant . Room was OK bit loud with doors open .. Comfy bed Don't know was breakfast rates are that I paid for wasn't explained 🤔 Didn't realise there was coffee equipment in the cabnet under the TV untill the second day ! 😅 Also had a mini fridge in there too . The shampoo and body wash they leave to use ok aswell Would defantly stay again brilliant location , Swipe cards for room acces makes it feel a little safer . Over all I'd give it a 8/10

We booked this hotel as it was close to spark stadium and we were going to a concert for the night. Left hamilton at 1:30 (so had plenty of time to get settled at the hotel) and arrived around 3:30 as not used to Auckland so got a little lost completely our fault nothing to do with hotel. So we finally get there and see there is next to no parking so had to park in the taxi stand. Go in and realised I’ve brought the card I cancelled (again my fault) and they wouldn’t accept my friend giving card details over the phone as they wanted a physical card. So bust through the Auckland traffic to get to the bank - it’s about 4pm now. Got a new card and cash out in case. Get back to the hotel and the guy laughs at me and looks at his colleague and goes “that’s the chick I was talking about”. So I think whatever and carry on. He then tells us to park in the car park which is the steepest and smallest little space for a car park. I won’t go into detail about this but there we’re no parks and I drive a manual so getting out I’m suprised I didn’t hit all the cars. I told the guy and he really didn’t care just told me to park in the wilsons parking 200m down the road. Probably about 4:45 we finally found the parking after being yelled at by the lady on reception when telling her we can’t find it - probably because the sign says “event parking 6 hours only. A few of the cars in the car park had their windows smashed and were broken into so at this point I just wanted to go home. The building smelt like urine and the stairwell was covered in broken bongs and crack pipes. Great. Walk back to the hotel and get into this dodgy little lift. Thinking it couldn’t get any worse than this. The floor I stayed on had people blasting music and smoking in the rooms I felt like I was in a uni dorm. There was Mould growing around our door over the carpet, hair all through our towels and the shower was barely secured to the wall. I’m not going to go into detail about much more but long story short we missed our concert, stayed at the worst place imaginable and wasted about $600 all together and had a terrible weekend. The customer service at Copthorne is the worst I’ve ever...

My family of 4 stayed here for 2 nights which was of great value thanks to "away to go", which included breakfast. Breakfast was very nice and a great highlight to start the day. Beds are very comfortable. Although everything seemed clean there was a large amount of splatter marks above us when lying on the bed where the little spot light was (im guessing it was food) and it was also on the curtain. There was also a long dirty drip mark on the back wall of the toilet which wasn't pleasant to see and couldn't be missed. Under the beds were quite dirty, I only noticed this because I checked to see if anything dropped. We also only had 2 towels for the 4 of us so we had to share and there was no hot chocolate in rooms. However all towels and milk was replenished, all our rubbish was taken away. This place has a great location. We used e-scooters to get too and from town so we didn't lose our parking, which was great fun. Best thing was they have the friendliest and helpful staff. I think the cleaning could improve but they may have just rushed our room as the lady needed to check if it was done at 2pm. Oh and unfortunately my partner had 1 smoke on the balcony when we got back from town (very stupid). The staff lady knocked and asked us if we were smoking as she could smell smoke in the hall way I said yes my partner but couldn't see how she could smell it as he was outside and only had 1 but we were given a warning. Again lovely staff! We did see later that the room next to us was smoking on the balcony which we had told them and also the people next to them were doing the same but im guessing they said they weren't smoking. I loved the aircon and the silence when you closed the balcony doors. I would give 3 stars but because the staff and breakfast is awesome here I gave 4. Parking is $20 per day and is limited so I would take that into consideration if travelling with a...
