Deciding on which restaurant to go to in downtown Auckland can be daunting because of the sheer number of choices that are available. I chose Teolbo Korean Restaurant because it offered a more authentic food experience than many of the other restaurants in the area and I hadn't had Korean food since arriving in New Zealand. I chose to try their most popular dish, the Sun Dae Guk, or, if you prefer, the "hang over" soup. On paper, the idea of eating pig's head meat, and internal organs like stomach and heart, can seem like a scary idea, but I guarantee it's worth it. The key is to season it the way you want and the wait staff will help you pick just the right ones for you. Mine turned out very savory with just enough spice not to be overwhelming, and I couldn't have been happier. They also provide free side dishes like kimchi and rice, which complimented the meal perfectly. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, understanding that it was the first time I was trying that particular dish, and the price for it is very reasonable too, especially for everything you get. This is a no-brainer if you are looking for a delicious, hardy, and certainly unique...

Stepping into Teolbo Korean Restaurant felt like discovering a hidden gem, and what a fantastic find it was! From the moment we ordered, we were pleasantly surprised by how short the wait time was, especially for a place that clearly draws a crowd. The atmosphere was immediately welcoming, with a genuine warmth that made us feel right at home. The staff at Teolbo truly set the standard for hospitality. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind and polite, going above and beyond to make our dining experience enjoyable. Their efficiency was remarkable, and they were always ready with a friendly smile. As for the food, it was nothing short of amazing. We ordered both the 순대 (Soondae) and the 순대 국밥 (Soondae Gukbap). The soondae itself was perfectly tender and rich, a true delight on its own. And the gukbap? The broth was deeply flavorful and hearty, perfect complement to the delicious soondae within. Every spoonful was pure comfort. It's clear that genuine care and authentic recipes are at the heart of Teolbo's kitchen. We left feeling completely satisfied and already planning...

THE BEST 순대국/SoondaeGuk in NZ! Comparable / even better than alot of the ones I’ve had in Korea. Had a late night out at the club? Maybe one too many bottles of soju the night prior? Feeling kinda hungover and a shell of human and need a lil something to revive that aching Seoul? This stew will cure you at least 95-99%. A rich hearty generous pork broth w/seasonings on the side to cater to your taste, recommended combo of ample amounts of 들깨가루 (perilla seed powder) with a hefty spoonful of 새우젓 (salted shrimp) and 고추장 (gochujang). The 김치/깍두기 (kimchi/kkakdugi) and 장아찌 (jangajji) perfectly sweet and sour, the ideal complimentary balance and fluffy sticky rice is life. And I know banchan refills are pretty standard at most Korean restaurants and is part of the culture but it really blows my mind that you can ask for extra refills of kimchi, soup, soondae, and rice for no extra charge! In this economy!? Wow! A real bang for your buck for $25! Also the bro working service is the nicest guy ever/is the man. 🤙 True Korean hospitality and vibes at its best!...

I walked in wanting a “Whole” Spicy Boneless Korean Chicken priced at $41.99, and what I got instead was this pathetic bowl of popcorn chicken. Honestly, my dog’s kibble tastes astronomically better than this. Food Review: the chicken pieces are ridiculously tiny — basically popcorn chicken size. The so-called spicy chicken has this nasty, greasy aftertaste that you don’t get at other Korean chicken spots in Auckland. The portion size is abysmal; what you see is $42 NZD worth of chicken. This restaurant doesn’t belong in Auckland, and frankly, it shouldn’t even stay in business. Take your money somewhere else — like I said, my dog’s kibble tastes better than this $42 disaster.

Its difficult to rate this place without trying the dish that the restaurant prides itself on which is the Sundae soup (Korean blood sausage soup). This dish is a perfect 10/10 of umami flavours and the perfect thing to have on a chilly day or if you feel like having a hearty meal! It does include certain parts of pork that non-Asian eaters may find unappealing (Aka offal) but this dish is not to be missed if you're here as the other fares are fairly average and in line with other basic Korean restaurants. If you're a foodie DEFINITELY TRY and bring a Korean or ask the always friendly staff on which condiments to add to further customise the meal.
