We stayed here for two nights during our visit to arequipa. We payed 58 dollars for two nights. In comparison to the other hostels in the city, you won't get value for money. The staff does not speak english. The rooms were basic but ok. The bathroom (our room did not have one) is shared with all the other guests. It only has one shower, one toilet and is very poorly maintained. The shower head is being held up by an electric cord, and the whole place isn't clean at all. The bin for toilet use was always full of dirty toilet paper. ||The breakfast was not even included in the price. The day before we left we wanted to pay the bill for our stay, because we had to leave very early in the morning (3 AM). The guy at the reception desk rold us the amount in soles and we payed. The following morning we wanted to leave because the bus was waiting for us. Another older guy at the reception desk then told us in spanish, we had to pay for one more night. Aperently the other guy charged the wrong amount. I told them i couldnt speak spanish but the just continued to rattle on. Totally not guest friendly. After i found another guest to translate, we heard we could only pay in cash or with visa. We refused both. Ended up paying three days later after our canyon trek. ||To sum it all up: the sleeping was ok, the shower and toilet horrible, and the interaction with the staff was...
Read moreOur room was kind of cute but quite stuffy as it had no window. There was very little guests for our stay and at the end we got a view of the other rooms and now feel we had the worst one even though it was empty. The bed sheets appeared clean but we had a purple top duvet/cover which was disgusting. It had numerous stains on it which could have been anything. Our shared shower room was okay and most of the time was clean. The shower itself was hot once for us over 4 days and was cold the other times. Wifi poor to average. We booked through booking.com and we booked for a total price and on arrival got told it was more because of a service charge. It does say this on booking.com but we missed it so we also felt that was a bit cheeky as we haven't had that at any other hotels or hostels. |On a brighter note, it was peaceful and quiet and the cleaner was lovely! They offered a laundry service which was quite pricey but our clothes were ironed and smelt...
Read moreUnreliable WiFi truly ruined the stay here because I could not access email or research tours for Colca. However this is claimed to be temporary only due to the internet provider doing upgrade work. My room was clean and comfortable but only one of the shared bathrooms had hot showers. I'm not a fan of toilet and shower in the same space when having to share them. Towel and soap provided and a laundry service for 5 soles per kilo is offered or you could visit nearby laundries that charge 3. Breakfast is not included which suited me fine as it was only bread and jam. There are desayuno specials for 5 or 6 soles if you want to go local. Central location on the edge of San Lorenzo barrio so visiting Plaza de Armas and Juanita museum one way or Yanahuara mirador the other are easy walks. The staff are friendly, helpful and will mind your luggage after you check out. You can return for a shower too but it costs 20 soles (towel and...
