Our stay at Amaru Colonial Stay was a mixed experience, with both delightful and challenging aspects. The central courtyard is a standout feature, with an incredibly attractive garden that provides a peaceful and picturesque setting for relaxation.||||Our hostess, Brisas, was a true gem. She was friendly, very helpful, and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. ||||Unfortunately, our interactions with another host, a man whose name we didn’t catch, were less pleasant. He was not as friendly and didn’t make us feel as welcome, which was disappointing given the otherwise warm atmosphere of the place.||||The breakfast staff, on the other hand, were fantastic. They were attentive and made sure our eggs were cooked to order each morning, adding a personal touch that we greatly appreciated. Another highlight was the availability of hot mint tea 24/7. This little convenience made our stay much more enjoyable, especially after a long day of exploring.||||However, one significant downside was the hotel’s location. Situated uphill, it required quite a bit of effort to reach, which can be a challenge, especially if you are prone to altitude sickness. The climb exacerbated our symptoms, making it a less than ideal location for those sensitive to high altitudes.||||In summary, Amaru Colonial Stay offers a charming environment with a beautiful garden and excellent breakfast service. Brisas’ hospitality adds a lovely personal touch, although the less welcoming demeanor of another host detracted from the experience. Be prepared for the uphill climb, which can be tough, particularly if you’re affected by...
Read moreThis place is definitely overpriced with their bad rooms and rude services (but the mister stays front desk at night is very kind)
They offer basement level rooms for $120 US dollars, while other hotels offer better room on the street just for $20-40. They can just rob us on the street. But they are so kind that they offered a room. You may say the garden is beautiful, but we did not sleep in the garden. We just take a look from the outdated cell and it take $120. The shower was so bad as if it is a kindergarten kid dripping it’s saliva. Kinda a breathtaking process for us to pray for another drop of water.
The WIFI is the worst I’ve used in Cusco. If you need to work remotely at night, DONT COME TO THIS PLACE.
Secondly, the service was awful. 0 sound proof and we are woke up by the noise upstairs and outside of the room at 7:00. When we tell the front desk the room in the basement is awful and definitely overpriced, the lady in the front desk repeatedly saying a basement level room “is not a basement”, is a “standard room”, with hidden language that they have offer the best and how dare us to say the rooms are overpriced. Then she look into the passport to point out our name as if she’s identifying the suspects in the police office. Amazing.
Also, no one helps to carry the luggage and no elevators - at least they should have one for the cases. I have used it several times in other boutique hotels. Feels like they assume their guest only travel with one personal item or you are NOT INVITED to this place.
Alas, you gotta experience something never experienced before in your...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for 4 nights: one night before going on a 1N2D trip to Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, and three nights after returning from the trip. Both the rooms were comfortable, adequately sized for a couple like us, and well-equipped with amenities such as a mirror, table, heater (available from 7 PM in the evening), and wardrobe/closet. We opted for city-view rooms, and the decision didn't disappoint us. The location is also convenient, with the main square being a 7-10 minute walk away. In terms of other facilities and amenities, this property offers 24/7 hot tea, coffee, hot water, and coca tea (which helped us a lot in acclimatizing to the elevation), as well as filtered water. The property also has a beautiful garden and seating areas outside the rooms.
We also enjoyed the breakfast here, which included choices of breads and eggs, fresh fruits and juices, butter, jam, cheese, ham, and freshly baked cake. They also packed a small breakfast box for us, including a cheese and ham sandwich, an apple, a banana, and a bottle of water, when we left the hotel for our Rainbow Mountain trip as early as 4:15 AM. It was a kind gesture.
We were also assisted with our luggage during check-in and check-out by the staff, and they kept our luggage during our trip to Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
Overall, a very decent stay and...
