I would never stay here again.
The first day I checked in, I realized they gave me a room with windows but no glass. These are literal holes in the wall that lead directly to the outside. It's rainy season. Temps can drop to high 40sF/9sC at night. It was freezing. I asked for a new room, and they confirmed that the room was currently under construction, but they said they had nothing available until the next day.
Why would they ever think it's appropriate to rent this room out?
Then, in the morning, I found out that while this place does have hot water, the hot water handle in the shower was broken. I cleaned up in the sink.
The next day they moved me to a new room and it started to rain. Then, it started to pour through the bathroom ceiling. Like I am surprised the plaster is still up there. I told them, and they said I could either close the bathroom door (ignore the problem) and use the toilet down the hall, or they could move me back to my old room.
I was moved back to my old room, and they had a guy come in and tape trash bags over the holes to create a seal. He also fixed the shower handle. Why didn't they call him the day before?
At no point was I offered a refund or reimbursed or anything fir my troubles. I would expect at least that first night to be refunded.
The free breakfast here is meager. It's bread, meat slices, powered coffee or chocolate, an avocado, butter, jam, and reconstituted powered juice. They have a toaster, but it's plugs don't fit the sockets, so you can't even toast your bread.
Most hostels offer a free walking tour. This place charges s/23.
The wifi only works in the lobby.
The owners?women working the front desk, sleep in the rooms when they are not in use, and when they are filled, they sleep on the couches in the lobby. My friend found their stuff in her room when she checked in.
One of my friends bought a bottle of water, and they charged her s/2. I bought water from a different woman at the front desk, and she charged me s/1.
Someone told us on the first day that checkout is at 11. They day we were leaving, they told us it's 10.
This place is a great location and it's not a party hostel, if you are looking for something quiet. They also charge fairly for their laundry services. The water does get super hot if needed. What is finished, is very nice.
They are new, under construction, and not great at customer service.
Update: The owner saw this review and emailed me. She asked me to take it down in exchange for a refund of the first night. Obviously, I'm...
Read moreOn our end, big mistake — we didn't notice the bathroom was shared when making the booking... but that's on us. The bathroom was ok, but there were exposed power cables that looked unsafe, no toilet brush, and no decent hand soap. No hairdryer either — if needed, you had to ask for it at reception. The hot water only started working after running the tap for a few minutes, and oddly, it came out when pointing the handle toward the cold water direction 😊.
The room was acceptable, but having the balcony seating area just outside our bedroom window wasn’t ideal because of the noise when people were talking. There was a power point 🔌between the two beds in our room, hanging loose and very unsafe. Even though it worked, it was impossible to charge a phone properly because the plug would slip out and disconnect. No local TV in our room. Wifi Internet...
Read moreThe staff here is absolutely wonderful. They go out of their way to provide you whatever you need. They have gone above and beyond to help me find the room that has the least outside noise with a private bathroom. They helped me with print and email, and literally prevented a crisis in my home country. They have also helped in other ways, such as carrying my luggage upstairs and more. I love it here, and most people will also. Communication with them is a pleasure. The beds are comfortable , with fantastic bedding, and there is housekeeping Monday through Saturday. I have stayed in Cusco many times, at many hotels of various levels, and this is a great deal, especially if you can walk moderate distances, as this...
